IN REGARDS TO THE ARTICLE TITLED "Routine dental visits should be delayed where there is still community transmission: WHO" ************************************************************************ The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) released a statement on Wednesday clarifying the World Health Organization's guidance, saying that delay of oral health care is not relevant for the current status in Canada since there is not wide-spread community transmission of COVID-19 in ...our country. ************************************************************************** The statement said Canada is experiencing cluster-contained outbreaks which allow for routine oral health care to be provided. According to the statement, Canadian dentistry takes its guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Health Canada, and the dental regulatory authorities in each province. The Government of Canada, CDA, provincial dental associations, and dentists continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic closely, the statement read. Canadians can rest assured that dentists are infection control experts, and that dental offices continue to follow strict provincial guidelines and regulations that protect the health of patients and dental staff. The CDA recommends that Canadians stay home and cancel or reschedule dental appointments if they have flu-like symptoms.
Even though you cannot see our beautiful smiles, we are so happy to see you! The office is back to our normal hours, including Mondays until 7:00pm.

Village Dental Centre wants to keep you healthy. To provide an additional margin of safety and further reduce clinical aerosols, we put sophisticated made in Canada air filtration units in all our operatories. They are noisy but they work.

Our office looks a little different, but it's still the same great smiling faces that you love, just under a mask! We have been fit tested for N95 masks, and are ready for all of your dental needs!

Our office is REOPENING FOR EMERGENCY/ URGENT CARE SERVICES on June 4, 2020. A staff member will be in the office STARTING ON JUNE 1, 2020 Monday to Friday from 9AM to 1PM to assist you with any concerns and to book your appointment. Your dental office experience will be very different from the days before the pandemic. We will guide you through this to make sure that everyone stays safe and healthy. Our staff will review... with you what to expect (don’t bring family members, wear a mask when you come, wait in your car for your appointment time, tell us if you are sick, expect your temperature to be measured and so on). We are currently working on updating our website with that information. Until June 1, 2020, if you are a patient of our practice and you have an emergency, please call or text 647-749-1917 during regular working hours. To our valued patients, This letter is to address the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We are committed to providing dental care in a safe environment and reassure you that the health and well-being of our patients and team is of utmost importance. Based on the recommendation of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, we are suspending all non-essential and elective dental services until April 6, 2020. We will be contacting you in the next few days to re...schedule. We will be operating on a reduced schedule on Monday March 16, 2020. When we are not in the office, emergency care will be provided by the on-call service (please refer to our answering machine message). However, we will be the office on call on March 27, 2020 and will provide essential and emergency dental treatment. We recommend that you do not come early for your scheduled appointments and do not bring additional family members into the office. For your safety, we modified our reception room layout and our disinfection of all contact surfaces in public areas to reflect the demands of the current situation. Please speak to us about your options to reschedule any upcoming appointments and help ensure the health and safety of our patients and team. Short notice cancellation fees will be waived for the duration of the coronavirus crisis. To support a healthy environment, amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we require you notify us of any of the following: Symptoms of feeling unwell, primarily: Runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or difficulty breathing Travel outside of the country, especially to any at-risk areas: China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Singapore, Japan, France, Spain or Germany If you or anyone in your close network have been quarantined by a medical professional, requested to self-quarantine OR have been in contact with someone who has traveled outside of Canada, especially to an at-risk area. We will continue to follow developments through local and international public health authorities. We appreciate your help and vigilance in this matter. Happy Halloween from Village Dental Centre!
Dear Patients, Over the last few days, our office had received a number of calls from you concerning the news about Kawartha Endodontics. This is to explain the situation a little bit. What happened?... Peterborough Public Health inspected Kawartha Endodontics in July 2019 and found that some equipment/ devices were not cleaned/ sterilized according to the provincial standards. The officials were unable to determine when the alleged violation began. They were unaware of any cases of disease transmission related to this finding. Kawartha Endodontics is disputing all allegations alleging unprofessionalism, abuse of power and abuse of process by Peterborough Public Health. A hearing has been scheduled for January 2020. How does it affect me? Although Peterborough Public Health did not disclose the exact nature of their findings, they have stated that disease transmission risk is low and there is no current cleaning or sterilization issue at Kawartha Endodontics. Peterborough Public Health has provided a webpage with a lot of helpful Q&A (https://bit.ly/2od3CV0 ) On a separate note, provincial sterilization regulations continually evolve to keep up with new state of the art technology and current research. All dentists aim to maintain a safe and healthy office environment for both patients and staff, and are professionally required to adhere to rules and regulations related to the operation of their dental practice. While some offices, like the Village Dental Centre, have strived to keep up and even stay ahead of the current regulations with our sterilization practices, others may lag behind with implementation or documentation. If you have any further questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact our office! Dr. Maria Lit
The office will be closed on Monday, October 14th and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:30am. For any dental emergencies, please call the health until at 705-748-8500. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving !

If you've been to our office in the past few weeks, you may have met our newest staff members. Chantal and Kelsey have joined the team at the Village Dental Centre and we are so happy to have them! Chantal will greet you at the front desk and Kelsey might be the hygienist you see for your cleanings( we have 2 hygienists!). Chantal is a certified dental assistant and previously worked for Paget Denture Clinic so you might recognize her. In her free time she is a volunteer fire... fighter and enjoys the outdoors with her mutt. Kelsey graduated from Durham College Hygiene program in 2013 and is a competent and experienced professional. In her free time she loves socializing with her friends. Please help us welcome these 2 lovely ladies to our team!
Happy Monday! We are marking 10 months since Dr.Maha Albetawi has joined our practice. Just to introduce her to those of you who have not met her yet: Dr.Maha started with us in November 2018 after relocating from Sudbury. She received her dental degree in 2003 from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. In 2007, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Endodontics. She practiced in Jordan and UAE and worked as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Western Ontario. Since moving to Canada, Dr.Maha has worked as a general dentist but she remains passionate about Endodontics (root canals). She has 3 children and enjoys spending time with her family and creating delicious desserts. Dr.Maha is in the office on Thursdays and some Wednesdays.
Let’s see all those happy back to school smiles! Parents too!
