If any one sees this guy, contact Peterborough Police. He stole $1300+ merchandise from our very own Kawartha Home Hardware. Chances are he has been making his ...rounds. Let's catch this guy. Last seen heading for the beach at Lakefield Park this afternoon. Please share the @#$% out of this. See more

PYO Guidelines Update! Please share to help us get the word out about our season this year and new procedures to ensure a safe and happy PYO season! We hope to... open late next week but the exact opening date depends on the weather and how fast they ripen! This is a strange new world we’ve found ourselves in and these guidelines may change as we figure out how to open, keep you safe and keep our staff safe while offering the best PYO experience. We know that some of these are going to be hard for everyone to adjust to they’re hard for us to adjust to as well but they’re necessary in order to keep your families, our staff family and our family safe. Please understand that these are not decisions that we’ve made lightly and that have been done with input from the health unit, from the Berry Growers of Ontario and with consulting with many other PYO operations across North America. We think we’ve gone through all possible scenarios and are trying to make the best and safest decisions for everyone but we realize that we will continually have to modify and adjust as we figure out our new normal to keep everyone safe - that is our number one priority. This year is sadly not a year that PYO strawberries is a social event it’s to harvest strawberries and then go home and enjoy them. Thanks in advance for your patience as we figure out PYO harvesting in the COVID-19 era. Below is the general list of what we need you to do in order to operate safely - but we ask that you read further details here before coming to pick: http://mcleanberryfarm.com/pyo-guidelines/ *Walkins welcome. No reservation needed! We want to get you in to pick as quickly and safely as possible and will use our resources to do this instead of making, taking or checking reservations. If we find that it’s necessary, we may make a reservation system - but right now we feel confident moving forward and meeting demand without it. *Almost all of our picking will be at our Buckhorn Berry Farm location, 3055 Berrie Rd. (Think: Pumpkinfest Farm!) *You will be able to either take a distanced tractor ride OR Park & Pick in the field. (See our PYO guidelines of how it will work for more information of where to go once picking opens: http://mcleanberryfarm.com/pyo-guidelines/) *Group sizes limited. Please limit picking numbers whenever possible and send only those going to harvest. You will be limited in a row to either 2 adults, 2 adults and a toddler under 2 or 1 adult and up to 2 children from the same household. In order to maintain proper spacing we have to limit group sizes in a row. All children must be directly supervised and in the same row as an adult. Limiting your group size before you come to harvest will help us allow everyone to be able to harvest quickly and efficiently. *Standard weight containers only (Fruit containers that are cardboard, plastic, pails, flats, etc. or containers that are clean and previously weighed from other years) bowls, sandpails, pots and pans that aren’t weighed can’t be used this year unless you’re okay with paying for the weight of the container too there will be no weighing containers on the way in so in order to take the weight of your basket off it must have a weight or be a standard weight. You’re welcome to buy containers at the farm to pick in to. *Always maintain a 44 strawberry (2m) distance from other customers and staff. *Wear a mask or face covering if possible. *Please wash and/or sanitize your hands before and after picking - we have stations for this available throughout the farm. *Absolutely no eating for health and safety reasons we can’t have you touching your mouth and then your basket or leaving hulls behind that may have come in to contact with you. In order to continue to offer PYO we have to ask you to leave the tasting for at home. *Senior & vulnerable population picking hours: Monday-Wednesday, 8am-9am *Anyone (regardless of age) unable to follow these guidelines will have to be asked to leave for everyones safety. So - that’s it! Not so hard, right?! We have such an amazing, caring and wonderful community and we know that you can all manage these guidelines in order to make a very COVID PYO work. Thanks for your understanding as we work through these new guidelines - we can’t wait to see you in the patch - from a distance!
