Did you know February 3 is World Read Aloud Day, an annual celebration about the power of reading and the importance of sharing stories? For us, this is also a day to celebrate our librarians who continue to read stories aloud and connect with young audiences through Storytime and Babytime. The VIRL Board of Trustees held its AGM last Saturday and elected a new Chair (Gaby Wickstrom, Mayor of Port McNeill), Vice Chair (Daniel Arbour, Area Director for Baynes Sound, Hornby/Denman Islands at the Comox Valley Regional District), and the members at large of the Executive Committee. The Board also welcomed nine new or returning members. This was VIRL's first-ever virtual AGM and elections it all went smoothly and the Board is ready and excited for the year ahead! https://virl.bc.ca/nine-new-trustees-2021-agm/
