The ability to keep your back in the same, stable position in the presence of outside force makes life easier whether you're an athlete trying to hold off an opponent while winning possession or carrying a few bags of groceries into the house while holding your kid's hand. A great way to develop this type of strength is the Pallof Press; however, the traditional version of this exercise is limited to training anti-rotational strength. Take a look at our video showing a few variations of the Pallor Press which apply force in a variety of ways and directions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeEoZYdSVwg

Like our page and share this post for your chance at a month of free online personal training. We will be holding a draw every two weeks and each post you share gets you an entry, so share any Virtually Fit post you see in your feed (or on our page). Being able to use your core muscles to stop rotation, flexion and extension is important for athletes and general public alike, so we use core stability in our warm ups, throughout our workouts and even to finish a workout. Take a look at a few different ways we carry weight to build that stability. You'll notice that each version in this video is a single arm carry. That's because just about all of the carries we use are single arm to increase the need to stabilize. It's also a good idea to get a proper movement screen before you lift weights, especially heavy ones, over your head.

If you workout at home, on the road or just find yourself pressed for time, suspension trainers are a great tool to get a balanced, full body workout. Here's a circuit you can try 3 times a week to get stronger and get your heart working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPzX5fhjRlI
