Painting on the black paper allows you to discover gouache at its most velvety and vibrant as a paint media. So happy to see the beautiful and vibrant work our students made this weekend. This is The American Dream by Grayson Perry This map of the US reflects a battle-torn landscape where nuance, compromise and empathy are casualties in the culture war. I love maps. They have an air of authority, they show us where to go, writes Perry. This map toys with the common delusion that there is a clear and certain route out of our mess of feelings. We are offering a 'Mapping' in contemporary art workshop at the end of October. Projects will emphasize a mixed material approach allowing you to experiment with collage and a range of materials such as charcoal, graphite, thread, watercolors, wax, oil bars and pastels.
