Today is World Elephant Day...this video is a beautiful testament as to why we need to stop forcing animals to entertain us. I have swam with dolphins in my past and regret it deeply. When travelling to Cambodia and India I'm so happy I travelled with another company that doesn't support elephant riding. In fact at the Amber Fort in Jaipur, G-Adventures took us up a back way with jeeps rather than have us use the "traditional" method of riding decorated elephants in the blazi...ng sun up a winding incline to the fort's entrance. Did you know that the snake charmer often removes the fangs of the "charmed" snake? Did you know that some people break the legs of the baby lamas to make it easier for the Peruvian women in costume to carry around all day for tourist pictures? Odds are good that monkey posing for pictures with tourists was torn away from it's mother as a baby and has lived a life of isolation and questionable care. If the animal isn't in complete control of how it's spending it's day - it's been hurt in some way, shape or form in order to entertain us. See more
