It is looking festive out there. We love seeing so many homes and businesses twinkling this year! Are you wondering where the best light displays are? If so, check out the City of West Kelowna's Self-Guided Twinkle Tour. An online map shows the different places to see the holiday lights and there are some fun downloadable scavenger hunt sheets too. If you want to submit your house, balcony, or business to be part of the Light up the Westside Contest, today (Dec 15th) is t...he last day to sign up, with the judging taking place later this week. Enjoy the lights! https://www.engagewk.ca/twinkle-tour

Some interesting tidbits about oak barrels and wine. Did you know that oak barrels affect the taste of wine? Effects on the taste of wine will differ depending on the age of the oak barrels, where the barrels are from, and how hard the barrels' insides are toasted.... American oak barrels are typically known for giving notes of vanilla while french oak will give hints of spice to the wine. Everything, in the end, is balanced well by the winemaker! Photo: Kalala Organic Estate Winery Next time you taste a wine, see if you can notice the difference!

Weekend Challenge: Get outside, enjoy this awesome January weather, and snap some photos of wildlife or birds! Where is the best place to see wildlife? A drive up Westside Road is a great place to see Bighorn Sheep or walk along our waterfront and spot some waterfowl. Even if you do not want to venture out too far, check out your backyard for some chirping birds.
