Don’t let an eye infection be the scariest part of your Halloween ! Decorative lenses purchased without a prescription may not fit properly, leaving the eye more susceptible to scratches on the outer layer of the eye, or getting an ulcer (an open sore) on the cornea- the clear covering over the front of the eye. The result of a scratch or sore can be scarring, infection, and permanent vision reduction or loss. - CDC Have a safe and healthy Halloween everyone , and don’t f...orget to always practice safe and healthy contact lens wear ! #halloween #contactlenses #eyehealth #cdc #optometry #vista_eyecare #yyj

Carrots are good for your eyes Myth or Fact? Well carrots are rich in Vitamin A which plays an important role in vision, reducing the risk of macular degeneration and vision loss. Additionally, it helps keep the ocular surface healthy and reduces risk of inflammation, ulceration, and dry eyes. A deficiency in Vitamin A can lead to night blindness (known as nyctalopia). Sadly, Vitamin A deficiency is the leading cause of preventable blindness in children worldwide. So yes..., carrots really ARE good for your eyes, but so are these other Vitamin A rich foods. Fun fact: the myth that eating carrots will improve your vision comes from WW2. The British Royal Air Force credited eating carrots with their increased ability to see their enemy in the dark when really they were hiding the fact they developed a new type of radar technology.
