I was asked many times why the logos on the ibex? Here is my answer! For the intellectuals like me out there: I am fascinated by the symbolism behind commercial... products aimed towards the broadest population possible. Advertisements for soft drinks and other consumable goods are all over the place, colours, fonts and symbols are all studied carefully to appeal to a maximum amount of eyeballs. These logos are then reproduced as many times as possible to be on every object, furniture, vehicle and inevitably, wastes in our environment. Since I use found cardboard on the street to create my artwork, I decided to use it, deconstruct it and re-assemble it to give it my own language. This is how I ended up creating a pastiche joining my signature creations, wild and majestic animals, and the idea of blind consumerism displayed in brand names and logos. Consumerism having an indelible impact on nature and a pretty calamitous one on large mammals, those two ideas together made a good pair. Fundamentally I am aware of how the art world can sometimes overestimate the value of things, and it's important for me to play on this theme with my sculptures. I have my own way of working with the materials I use, of sharing my values and ideas through my work, and all this serve as a testimony of my personal outlook on the world we all live in.
