The Making of Real Thick Documentary is ready to watch on Sparrow Blue’s YouTube Inspired by old school roots of Rock n’ Roll, Sparrow Blue has crafted their own classic tone branded with a new name: Badlands Blues. Based out of Edmonton, AB, Sparrow Blue was banded by members Des Parks on vocals, Jon Dombroski on guitar, Liam Holm on drums, Bernie Baksa on guitar, Russell McCann on percussion and Jack Hansen on Bass in 2016. With influences such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zep...pelin and Mountain, the band’s hard-rock music and high-energy performances are sure to bring fire to any stage. Sparrow Blue’s fan-base is rapidly growing as they continue to play shows throughout the Edmonton and Calgary area, headlining as well as sharing the stage with renowned artists such as The WILD!, the Lazy’s and Supersuckers. I had the opportunity to document their weekend at Veleveteen Audio in Edmonton while recording their newest single, Real Thick. Go behind the scenes and into the lives of the members as they prepare to release their thickest single yet. Grab some drinks, put your feet up and spend your Friday night quarantine in and out of the studio with the fast paced, beer sipping birds of Sparrow Blue. Things are about to get Real Thick.

Unfortunately The Making of Real Thick will not be dropping tonight. The good news is it’s not dropping for all the right reasons. We had originally planned for a small Mini Doc surrounding the studio session and figured we’d make around 15-20 minutes and we set a release date and started production. While editing I realized we were going to absolutely crush our original timeframe of 15-20 minutes. By early this week the documentary was sitting at 20 minutes and should’ve... been considered done and prepped for launch, except I had over 40+ minutes of unused interviews and a pile of outtakes, unseen footage, etc. So this week I decided to try and bring this to life on an even larger scale than we had imagined by adding in all the additional footage that wasn’t being used. I was also trying to convince myself I wasn’t expediting the process in order to meet a deadline but I was. After chatting with the boys in Sparrow Blue we decided to prolong the release a week so we can bring you the entire story that’s three times as long and three times as thick!
