A smoothie that is balanced with limited calories can be a meal replacement when time is a factor. But let's do it right! A balanced smoothie drink: the colour differs according to the proportion of components. I use a base of Coconut Water which helps to balance the minerals Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium and which is hydrating.... 1. PROTEIN: hemp seeds OR Greek Yogurt OR Kefir 2. CARBOHYDRATE: Any berries OR 1/2 banana OR kiwi + handful of spinach 3. HEALTHY FAT: frozen PC avocado chunks OR hemp seeds if not used previously 4. FIBRE: 1T ground flax and chia (Organic Traditions) 5. Easy to make (15 minutes prep), a hearty Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle soup to warm you up on a chilly day and to ward off a cold! INGREDIENTS: 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts... Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 8 cups chicken stock 4 cloves garlic, minced 1 onion, diced 3 carrots, peeled and diced 3 stalks celery, diced 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary 2 bay leaves 8 ounces spaghetti, broken into thirds Juice of 1 lemon 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley DIRECTIONS: Season chicken with salt and pepper, to taste. Place chicken into a 6-qt slow cooker. Stir in chicken stock, garlic, onion, carrots, celery, thyme, rosemary and bay leaves; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours. Remove chicken from the slow cooker and shred, using two forks. Stir in pasta and chicken into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low heat for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until pasta is tender. Stir in lemon juice and parsley. Serve immediately. See more

Try this Autumn blend, Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. - 1 cup pumpkin puree - 1 banana, frozen... - 1 1/2 cups almond milk or nondairy milk - 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice - 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or the seeds of 1 vanilla bean, scraped - 1 tbsp almond butter - 1 pitted Medjool date 1. Wash and prep all ingredients. 2. Blend and serve. Pro Tip: Don’t have pumpkin pie spice? Make your own by combining 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg, and 1/8 tsp ground allspice.
