Orange Shirt Day recognizes the injustices enacted by residential schools in Canada as an attempt of cultural genocide on Indigenous People’s in Canada. It recognizes the impacts still felt today by Indigenous People nation wide and is designed to educate others. We wear orange in recognition of Phyllis Webstad, who was given an orange shirt by her grandmother for her first day of residential school. When Phyllis arrived at the school, her clothes were taken away, including... her brand new shirt, and never returned. VIU Club Education recognizes the injustices that took place, and continue to take place. And, we are honoured to be able to have our University on the unceded territory of the Cowichan, Snuneymuxw, Tla’Amin, and Snaw-naw-as First Nations. #orangeshirtday #everychildmatters #educationmatters

Starting a new year of university can be stressful, especially when we aren’t all together. We have created a new mentorship program for students in years 1-4 to be grouped with a mentor from a higher year. If you’re looking to be a part of the Club Ed community, want some insight into what you can expect this year, or just a friendly face to talk to, please fill out this form.

Happy First Day of School Even though school is looking a little different this year, it is important to remember we are not alone (even if we are socially distanced). We are looking for year 4 and 5 students who are interested in our mentorship program, to work with our year 1, 2, and 3 students.
