A small action can make a big difference. Today people across BC are wearing black shirts to commemorate the ongoing struggle for civil and human rights fought by Black and racialised Canadians.
Passengers told CHEK News they were shocked and infuriated with what they saw, and described the scene at the terminal as total "chaos" with approximately 120 people waiting inside.
Seedy Saturday Workshop Highlight Meadow Making - Growing native plants to support local biodiversity and pollinator health Hosted by: Hannah Auer of The Resili...ency Project, featuring Kristen Miskelly of Saanich Native Plants When we integrate native plants into our landscapes, we support the health of the ecosystem, create habitat for pollinators and other beneficial insects and help restore healthy food webs. In this workshop, Hannah will share the local effort to create pollinator habitat throughout our community, and how you can get involved in The Resiliency Project and contribute to the movement. Kristen will share the work she does at Saanich Native Plants, supporting many local restoration efforts and growing native plants for the public. There will be a Q&A session with Kristen, where you can ask any of your questions regarding native plants. Kristen Miskelly is a biologist who specializes in the restoration and botany of southeastern Vancouver Island and is passionate about ecology, conservation, and native plant propagation. Kristen co-operates a local native plant nursery and consulting business, Saanich Native Plants, that she hopes will assist others in conserving and enhancing natural habitat. Kristen received her MSc from the University of Victoria, focusing on the ancient vegetation of southern Vancouver Island. She has a diverse background in botany, conservation, and ecological restoration and regularly teaches courses and workshops focused on botany, plant identification, restoration, and naturescaping. Please join us on Saturday, January 30th for virtual workshops along with live Q&A.
