#ViVaCiousLeadersTribute Maya Angelou was an American poet, singer, memoirist. She published seven autobiographies, three books of essays, several books of poetry, and was credited with a list of plays, movies, and television shows spanning over 50 years for which she received dozens of awards and more than 50 honorary degrees. Becoming close friends with influential figures such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr in the 1960s, Angelou became a civil rights activist which showed through her work including her first autobiography I know why the caged bird sings. Maya Angelou, thank you for being a ViVaCious Leader :)
#ViVaCiousLeadersTribute - One of only three women to compete in the MacRobertson Air Race in 1934 and the only woman to compete in the Bendix race in 1937, Jackie Cochran was a pioneer in the field of American aviation and one of the most prominent racing pilots of her generation. She set a new transcontinental speed record as well as altitude records and was the first woman to fly a bomber across the Atlantic. She won five Harmon Trophies and at the time of her death in 19...80 no other pilot held more speed, distance, or altitude records in aviation history. Cochran also owned a lucrative cosmetics company and received many business awards during the 1950s. She dedicated much of her time and money to charitable works and was an influential contributor to the establishment of the women’s flying division in the Army Air Forces during WWII. Jacqueline Cochran, thank you for being a ViVaCious Leader :)
