Here we have another amazing member of the Vivid safety team. Alaine Haugen has been working in the construction instustry since 2006 and is a Journeyman Carpenter. She has worked in residential and commercial construction in Calgary and on industrial oil sands projects in northern Alberta. Alaine completed her NCSO training in 2014. She has been teaching construction fall protection classes for for Vivid Safety the past 5 years.... For Alaine safety is a part of the job. She believes that when you have effective and efficient safety policies you can focus on production and quality of work. It all fits together. Outside of work Alaine is spending time with her kids, teaching fitness classes or camping.

Some wear and tear on your fall pro equipment is acceptable...but what types of defects could warrant pulling your gear out of commission? Cuts through your 3 strand nylon life safety ropes, holes in your synthetic straps, discoloration/writing on your metal components and wear lines on your self retracting lanyard lines would all be good reasons to replace your equipment. Keep your gear in good shape and it will help keep you in good shape!

Here is another amazing member of the Vivid Safety Team! Introducing Katlin Worthington! Katlin has been involved in and around the construction industry since 2013 including, administrative support in the beginning, emergency response dispatcher in oil and gas and moving into the safety field after taking a break and completing all of the required courses for the HSA/NCSO program. Her first job in safety was in the city to support and advise during the geotechnical investiga...tions for the South leg of the Greenline LRT project before starting with Vivid back in 2017. Katlin believes that a safety program needs accountability from all levels of the organization for the program to work and flourish. Katlin loves being in the field and strives to find creative, worker involved solutions to the everyday and out of the ordinary problems workers and companies face. She is always excited to work with all levels of the company to learn work processes and the ins and outs of tools and equipment to advise about industry standards, ideas for safeguarding, processes and of course, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation. She is a few courses away from achieving her Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and plans to continue through with a Diploma and earn her CRSP. When Katlin isn’t working you can find her baking or cooking, playing with her dogs and cats, being around the rivers in Calgary and working on school work.

Know when to retire your gear! Metal discoloration can be a reason for decommissioning your fall protection equipment. This crew had identified and removed equipment out of service when we arrived on site and new harnesses had already been purchased to replace the decommissioned ones. Looking good in the new gear guys!!

We decided it’s time to start introducing the amazing people that make up the Vivid Safety team! Let’s start with the one and only Char Priddey! ... Char has been involved in the construction industry for 15 years, with a background in residential and commercial roofing, siding and exterior trades. Char believes that safety and production need to work hand in hand- safe production over the idea of safety first. We have a job to do first and foremost. and then safety comes in as this great support system to production to assist in getting things done in a way that values people’s livelihood and wellbeing. They make a great team. When Char is not working or teaching safety classes, she loves to travel, camp and play sports. See more
