ANOTHER TESTIMONIAL: Today Leah our partboarder rode Ruby in her lesson with our coach. It was Rubys first ride since her massage with Verna. They have been working on lead changes where Ruby hasn’t been too successful going from left to right. As you can see from the video and the audio we got 2 clean changes on the very first time . This is a huge improvement as we have dealt with bunny hops, being disunited or a small cow kick trying to have her backend switch with the change. Ruby was always stiffer on her left side and now her left lead canter is a joy to ride and not hard work to ride SEND US A MESSAGE OR GIVE VERNA A CALL IF YOU WANT TO SEE HOW MUCH SHE CAN HELP YOUR HORSE, LIKE SHE HELPED RUBY, AND SO MANY OTHERS <3 THANK YOU AGAIN ALLISON FOR THE KIND WORDS!

TESTIMONIAL FROM TORI: Verna worked on my horse that was stuck going to the right and super tight. With one session she was able to get him to relax (which other therapist couldn’t). She told me everything that was wrong and explained how and what is causing it. I can’t even explain to you the detail that she put into the report. My horse’s saddle was a big problem and she helped me find one that fit him while we wait for the saddle fitter to come out. I’m so pleased with everything she has done for him and I know he is too! Thank you so much Verna! We are looking forward to the next session! WE ARE SO HAPPY WE WERE ABLE TO HELP YOU AND YOUR HORSE. THANK YOU TORI <3

TESTIMONIAL FROM ALLISON: Last Monday I treated both Ruby and Fantome to massages. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. I saw a post that Candace Sirianni posted about what a difference Verna Lum and VL Equine Optimal Performance made to her racehorses. I’ve known Verna for several years and called her up to arrange for her to come out. She spent 2 hours working on my babies and explained what she was finding and what she was doing. I rode Fantome yesterday. He has had ...good days and not so good days and has been semiretired for about 3 years. I should have a massage too because yesterday Fantome rode like he did 10 years ago and was a firecracker. He was not patient to just walk and stretch as we do in his regularly warm up. Cantering in every corner. If there had been jumps set up he would have taken me over them. He was soft and yielding to both sides, just awesome THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS ALLISON, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH BOTH FANTOME AND RUBY AGAIN <3

The movement of the horse's back is critical for general health and performance. We need to have a clear understanding of the way this movement occurs naturally... in order to preserve the horse in the best way possible. Because we sit directly on the back, we want to know how that structure is effected by our requests, our tack and the horses natural tendencies. As a prey animal the horse responds to its environment in specific ways. When the back is moving down and away from the rider that is sending a natural flight response to the brain. This response can't be over ridden by force, or any amount of persuasion by a rider. Eventually the horse will brake from what restricts him and respond by spooking, running, bucking and any number of ways he may respond for self preservation. The properly developed and well trained horse however does not move the back away from the rider. This is because of many things. First the tack is properly fitted not to cause discomfort. Second the muscles are strong supporting the body and allowing the horse to move with ease. Third the rider understand how her horse moves and is able to support him as she rides in order for the horse to feel safe and confident. Many times signs of body soreness can be missed and we attribute lack of engagement or forward motion, missing leads, teeth grinding, tossing of the head in upward transitions, refusing a jump, tail swishing, pulling back and cocking hind leg when trying to clean hooves as an ill mannered horse. At times this may be true, but these reactions are also typical symptoms that a horse is sore in one or more areas such as poll, shoulder and neck, withers and back, loin and hip are...a all the way down to hocks and pasterns. VL Optimal Equine Performance provides manual and soft tissue massage therapy to relieve tight sore muscles that can result from injuries, hard training, aging and rapid growth of our horses. Horses of all ages and fitness levels, will benefit from massage, acupressure and myofascial release therapies. Contact us to book your session now - your horse will thank you :) A happy horse is a happy rider!

Introducing VERNA LUM: Verna has a holistic approach for treating horses; she takes work load, turn out, diet, saddle fit and footing all into consideration, as all of these impact the overall health and well-being of your horse. Her non-invasive acupressure and myofascial release techniques "jump start" the healing process by increasing circulation and blood supply to areas of soreness, reducing tightness and inflammation. Your horse will feel better, move more freely, and ...be happier with their work. For more information please check out www.vlequineperformance.com or send us a message here :) Located in the Niagara area, but willing to travel to other areas as well. We look forward to hearing from you!
