I am fortunate that I live in an area that has a lot of snowy owls within 20 mins of my house. This week was the first time I went out there to try my hand at getting a photo of one or more of them. This is one of my best tries. I did find out that you really need the perfect light, at least with my cameras and lenses, and that finding them flying around isn’t easy. Lots more practice and searching is needed. So for my first post of the year comes a detail photo of the hoar frost I found in my local area. Although I went out with the long lens on the cameras favourite images came when I put the macro lens on. The light was great and the frost beautiful amd my Olympus gear allowed me to create an in camera stack. I hope that this gear will last for many more years and more gets created by the new company. It’s funny how things go. I went out to this well known location to photograph the sunset and blue hour over the Toronto skyline but it didn’t look to promising. I was on my way out when I decided to stay since I am here anyways and it turned out to be one of my favourite Toronto Skyline photo shoots. It’s amazing how it changed over the years. With all the talk about the ‘Skydome’ this week I was surprised to see that it is almost invisible unless you’re really close to it. 2020 turned out to be quite different than expected. Normally I would have a lot more photos from the places we travelled to but this year we only travelled around Christmas 2019 through New Year 2020 and therefore only one photo from Galapagos shows up. So as I am going through my photos I found this one from October. We were camping at Bruce Peninsula National Park for Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend. I managed to stay up long enough to go a take some pics of the Milky Way over Cyprus Lake. It worked out quite well although the core is mostly not visible at this time of the year.
