Vancouver Olympic Club 28.10.2020

This years Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships took place at Cape Breton University, in Sydney, Nova Scotia on August 9 to 11, 2019. Six of our athletes went across Canada and competed in various events. The results of these athletes are as follows: Adria Sellers competed and came 5th in the Women's U16 80m Hurdles with a time of 12.40. Christian Petersen has achieved many personal best results in this year's track season. Recently, Christian was selected by the selection committee of the Canadian Mountain Running Association to run for the Canadian Mountain Running Junior Team (16-19 years old) at the 35th World Mountain Running Championships. The Running Championships will take place in Villa La Angostura, Argentina on Saturday, November 15th, 2019. On July 25-28, the 2019 Canadian National T&F Championship was held at the Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard in Montreal, Quebec. In this event, VOC Athlete, Ceili McCabe won the Canadian National Junior Champion title in U20s Women 3000m Steeplechase. Ceili wins gold. 2019 Copyright Sean Burges / Mundo Sport Images. Nine VOC athletes competed at the BC Junior Development Championships on July 19-21, in South Surrey, bringing home 9 medals (one gold, 7 silver and 1 bronze) Our 10 year old girls had great results where Vanessa Pang, won gold in the 60 Hurdles and silver in 60m dash and Long Jump. VOC Junior Development Athletes shone at the BC Pentathlon Championships in Maple Ridge on July 13, 2019. Vanessa Pang won the gold medal and is B.C. champion for 10 years old followed by Elizabeth Hardcastle with the silver medal. Ana Montessori won the bronze medal for and 11 year old. Two of the VOC athletes recently represented Canada at the NACAC U18 Championships and achieved great results in Queretaro, Mexico the same weekend as the BC Jamboree Championships weekend of July 5-7, 2019 Kendra Lewis won the gold medal in the 1500m and Dylan Uhrich finished 4th with a strong finish, only 0.72 sec. from second place. Congratulations to these two members who had huge accomplishments in Mexico and made new friends at the same time! On July 5-7, twelve VOC athletes competed at the 2019 BC Jamboree Championships in Kamloops, where many achieved great results. For the Midget category (14-15 years old): Sophie Forsyth competed in the 1500mSC for the first time and won the championship title and the gold medal in this race. The Norwesters Track and Field Club held their Annual Trevor Craven Memorial Meet, June 21-23, 2019, at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC. VOC competed with 25 athletes in all events, from hurdles to high jump to long jump to steeplechase. Our VOC athletes achieved great results at Trevor Craven meet winning a total of 28 medals consisting of 17 gold (1st place); 6 silver (2nd place) and 5 bronze (3rd place). At the Championships, we competed with 20 athletes with 17 of them achieving a PB; however, all of them made great contributions to their schools and demonstrated good presentation. Thank you to all Schools, Track Clubs and the participants whom took place in the Vancouver Olympic Club Track and Field Meet on April 12 to 13, 2019 at Swangard Stadium, in Burnaby. With over 600 participants, the two day event took place in the sun and rain! From Long Jump to Shot Put to High Jump to Hurdles to Distance and Sprints, Kids made personal best times and all finished with spirit in their events!
