Athletics Canada awarded their 2019 Awards on June 8, 2020 and our very own Coach Besnik Mece was the recipient of the Jane and Gerry Swan Award for the Development Coach of the Year. Coach Besnik's hard work and dedication to our club is on that we are very appreciative of. The development of athletes such as Kendra Lewis, Dylan Uhrich, Ceili McCabe are just to name a few. Today would have been Day 1 of the BC High School Track and Field Championships in Langley.
Today April 6, 2020 marks the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. As a result of Covid-19, the global sporting community is facing serious challenges due to measures imposed in countries all over the world. But this doesn’t mean you stop being active or disconnect from your teammates or coaches who help us to stay physically and socially active. Please stay active, stay healthy and practice your social distancing. We will all get through this together. #idsdp #idsdp2020 #sport #stayactive #beactive #behealthy #vancouverolympicclub #vocathletics
As we navigate our world today, we want to express our gratitude to all the essential workers- the healthcare workers, grocery store workers, truck drivers and so much more. Thanks for working tirelessly during these exceptional times. #thankyou #flattenthecurve #stayathome #stayhealthy #staysafe
At the Vancouver Olympic Club, the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, and their families is one of our primary concerns. As per the direction given by the BC provincial health authority, due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, our regular training schedule will be suspended until further notice. Athletes wanting to train through this period can do so on their own; however, without one of our coaches present.... That being said, our coaches can offer support digitally to our athletes. Thank you for everyone’s cooperation and understanding during this time of uncertainty. Link to BC Athletics Update: https://www.bcathletics.org//bc-athletics-update-cor/2980/
