Republicans are pro Wall street, and Democrats are pro Main Street, right? wrong . . As the November 3 U.S. Presidential election approaches, the rhetoric and media coverage continues to ramp up, making it difficult to avoid even if you tried. From the potential of history being made with the election of the first female, minority-background U.S. Vice-President in Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris, to the re-election of the ever-controversial Donald Trump, the endless soun...d bites and posturing are feeding the media machine like a gift that just keeps on giving. . But does any of it matter to long-term Canadian investors? The short answer is no at least not in terms of warranting any change to their long-term investment plans. With that in mind, we offer insight into how U.S. equity markets have behaved historically during election campaigns. History shows broad market performance is more correlated to the economy, business cycle and corporate profits rather than election noise. Additionally, we offer insight into the political platforms of the two candidates and potential market reaction depending on which party wins the race. . . #election2020 #planning #money #2021 #uselection #holidayseason #newsletter #newseason See more

Is Life Insurance an Investment? Often times many associate life insurance with its most simplistic form, which is that it provides a lump sum payment to the beneficiary of your choosing in the event of your passing. Though this may be the case in some instances, there is also several ways in which life insurance can accumulate a cash value that can be used prior to your death.... In fact, certain life insurance products can offer significant returns while at the same time shelter these earnings from taxes that other forms of investing may yield. These earnings can be used in your lifetime for a variety of different reasons - supplementing retirement income, vacations, home purchases, etc. As many today are not finding themselves with any sort of pension in place, or a significant RSP contribution platform, this allows life insurance to assist in the retirement you deserve - much like a personal pension plan can. In this video, Gavin from the Volpe Financial Solutions team walks you through how life insurance can double as an investment.

Read this article and tell me what you think. My opinion... know one really knows what the history has in store for us. You cannot time the market, you cannot guess where they economy is going to be. So what can you do to mitigate risk? 1. Ensure your portfolio is globally diversified. Why? Well... some economies across the world will recover and prosper before others; just because the US and Canada have strong economies doesn’t mean you should primarily invest in them.... 2. Use products that protect your principle assets. Yes, there are products that’s can protect your money while growing with the market at the same time. You want to learn more? Just ask 3. Weigh your fees paid to return ratio? There are many commercials out there where passive management companies advertise that you will be thousands of dollars richer if you pay less fees. The issue here is passively managed ETFs track the market...meaning if the market is up, so is your money, if the market is down...you guessed it, so is your money. So what’s the issue? Well... just like what happened with this current pandemic, ther market tanked. Passive funds have either taken a long time to recover or haven’t yet. But actively managed funds and ETFs have not only recovered, they have flourished! Why? Because actively managed funds and ETFs have the ability to buy more securities when the market dips lower, creating a high percentage of upside opportunity. At VFS we use all 3 strategies, but understand that each and every investor is different. Let’s strategize and find the right investment opportunity for you! https://on.mktw.net/2Vl8Zzs Check out this article from MarketWatch - Race for a COVID-19 vaccine has drug makers scaling up manufacturing before one is developed
