And just like that, it’s patio season once again! #discoveryportperry (but don’t if you’re not from the region) #climatechange #covidscugog

We need leaders in this region who have vision beyond the demands of their campaign funders. We need people who realize that warehouses are not the future -- but temporary employers, where automation will replace workers the minute robotics become cheaper than low-paid labour. We need people who actually care about our beautiful Durham -- who don’t celebrate the arrival of poor-quality employers like Amazon. Leaders who don’t think a cargo airport in the greenbelt is a good idea. Leaders, who are not obsessed with consigning our region into the future as a third-rate logistics hub for the GTA. https://www.durhamregion.com//10281208-pickering-needs-ne/

The Region of Durham is looking at making Simcoe Street a transit priority corridor south of Hwy 407. It includes dedicated bus lanes, stop realignment, priority signals, etc. Link to the virtual information centre: https://www.ibiviz.com/simcoestreetpilot/ Thoughts:... - Simcoe is overbuilt. 4-6 car lanes induce speed, lane hopping, etc. A 50km/h limit on a stroad is wishful. Needs a road diet. - Crossing the street to catch the bus is deadly, especially around campus - 0 mention of other transportation modes. Cycling lanes could be added along w/ bus priority like Kingston Rd & Hwy 2. - Where's the integration with GO? See more

It’s a beautiful day in the Township of Scugog, but our kids continue to face second-class treatment. Why? Because treating unused municipal parking lots takes priority over sidewalks on key routes to school. Why is the tennis club parking lot plowed first? Why is the ENTIRE arena parking cleared the morning The Regional Municipality of Durham enters "red" COVID-19 restrictions? Is there a pickleball tournament I'm not aware of? Or a 8AM hockey game? What can you do to help?... 1. If you live close to school, encourage your kids to continue walking & biking to school preferably in groups rather than drive them. Rain or shine. And if your pandemic schedule permits it, make it a family event! 2. Contact the mayor and council and let them know that in 2020-21, children, seniors, and those with mobility issues deserve the same level of respect as 3-ton boxes of steel. We made it! #bikemonth continues. If only the same level of service was upheld so that people of all ages and abilities can safely go about their day. #activetransportation #snow #portperry #scugog #durhamregion #bike2school #walk2school

"Reconciliation must mean more than land acknowledgements and flag flying. To develop the Pickering wetland amounts to anything but restoring harmony to the land, or harmony to the relationship with the local Indigenous community."

Too bad he didn’t have the same legal team & connections as the speaker guy from Scugog. Could have walked away with a year’s driving suspension instead of hard time.
