1989 was my final year at FarWest. Started this Goretex apparel company in Vernon, in 1976 at age 22. Took it public on the TSE in 1986. I designed these hal...f-zip and full-zip jackets with the contrast stripe - they remain Canada’s best selling Goretex design, even 30 years later - no other brand has ever exceeded the 50,000 per year we were selling of this design. Our apparel factories in Vernon (650jackets/8hours) and Vancouver (200units/8hours) rocked, great Teams! We forced Goretex to use unique textiles woven in Canada to our specs. We never went offshore for production, excluding small quantities of double breasted Goretex trench coats (we just could not figure out how to make those properly). Even at $30million per year SRP, over 500 employees, and 500 FarWest specialty dealers across Canada, we were in the mountains around New Denver almost every weekend.
