It's #ThrowbackThursday! One of the first buildings ever built in #Walkerton; the Walker House was the house of the towns first mayor, its founder and its n...amesake. This houses historical value far outweighs it's architectural value. Built in 1860 near Walkers saw mill, grist mill and dam, this house is of Georgian structure with Classical Revival detailing. It is currently occupied by Walker House Financial Group and Orchid Drop Spa. There is also some office space available here if you are looking to start a business in Walkerton! See more

The Walker House Financial Group would like to remind everyone to stay safe this long weekend and have fun!

The Walker House Financial Group will be closed Monday the 20th for the Victoria Day long weekend. Please remember to stay safe and have fun this holiday!

The Walker House Financial Group would like to wish everyone a happy Easter. Our hours are changing for the summer (Easter to Thanksgiving) to 9-5 Mon-Thurs and Fridays by appointment only.

We are in the final week of contributing to your RRSP for your 2018 taxes. The deadline is March 1st, which is this Friday. Let us know when you can make it in to contribute.

We're now mid way through February, don't leave your RRSP contributions until last minute. Especially with this weather we are having! If you're set up with a nominee account, online deposits are available if the weather is preventing you from getting into town safely.

With the crazy weather we are having of late, it is just a reminder to stay home and stay safe if you can. This is why at the Walker House we try and set you up with nominee accounts where applicable. These accounts allow you to deposit money into them via online banking, as well as give investments instructions over the phone or e-mail. Stay safe and take care!

Just a reminder, you have until the end of February to contribute to your RRSP to reduce your taxable income for 2018.

Merry Christmas!!

As 2018 comes to an end, be sure to go through this year end checklist: 1) If you or a loved one turned 71 this year make sure all RRSP products were moved to a RRIF product. 2) If you or a loved one is 65 or older check to see if you have any money that is considered pension income. If you do, be sure to withdrawal $2,000 before year end to be eligible for the $2,000 pension credit and get your money out at a reduced tax rate. 3) Do you or a loved one have a RESP with a chi...ld who turned 17 this year? This is the last year they can receive government grant. Be sure to top them up before year end. 4) Make sure your financial strategy for the new year involves the $500 increase to the TFSA contribution room. See more
