Orange Pine - oil pastels on 6x8.5 mixed media paper - 2020-06-21 Snowy Fence-line - oil pastels on 6x8.5 mixed media paper - 2020-06-14 Sometimes I have a hard time sharing my work... I definitely need to work on that. These two pieces are from a few weeks ago.... Continually I am pushing myself to try different styles and techniques, some of which I havent used for about 10 years. The last time I used oil pastels was back in high school and I have to say I wasnt a fan. When I saw them on my supplies shelf I thought I should give it another try and have recently purchased another set as I really like working with them now! @ Haliburton, Ontario

Landscape #4 - 2020 Acrylic on canvas board from a photo my mother took in Barkerville, BC, back in 2015. This week I definitely challenged myself with a different painting style. I felt very confident as I was painting the sky, mountains and foliage but as I started the painting the small wooden church, it started to fall apart. I needed to take a step back to look at it. I put my brushes down for the night and came back the next day, knowing exactly how to move forward; ad...ding depth and texture to the windows, door and trim. I have to say, I am actually happy with the finished product and am looking forward to challenging myself again next week with my weekly family zoom painting sessions!

Landscape #2 & #3 - 2020 Pink Mountains, #2: Acrylic on canvas, 16x20, pallet knives and sponge brushes. #3: Acrylic on birch panel, 6x7, fingerprinted. Digital image, 2014. As a loose reference, I used an image of mine from a trip to Iceland in 2014. Being such a magical place I wanted to saturate the colours and bring a little playful life to the mountains by mixing the colours on the canvas with the pallet knife. ... I am very much enjoying my weekly Zoom painting sessions with my family. We keep pushing our boundaries and trying something new each week! I have to say I havent done finger painting in a long time but this small experiment (#3) really makes me want to get my hands dirty more often!

~ Moments in Light ~ Quarantine Light edition 2020/03/21-22 While spending so much time in my house, I have really been able to notice the light. Although Ive seen this light before, it feels different. I can take the time to appreciate it watching it fall, move and bounce around. These are just a few of those moments I fell in love with.

Soft Sea Urchin ~ 2020 ~ Wet-felted with hand stitched embellishments ~ This piece has been a work in progress for several weeks, not really having an end goal, but experimenting with what forms and shapes can be made using fibre. Each colour was only used once, creating a different flow in its own direction of growth, creeping around the form and transforming it further. Usually I have a hard time finding a piece truly finished but with this piece, as I put my last stitches in, I felt it was complete. The first of more to come, in different forms, shapes and colours.

This year I have the pleasure of instructing at Fleming College - Haliburton School of Art + Design in their summer program with over 300 different art based workshops, both week-long and day-long. My course is Makerspace Explorations June 24-28. Together we explore all of the equipment available in the Centre for Making, from 3D printers to digital embroidery to laser engraving.

Masc. - Laser etched woodblock - edition of 11 - This print is is for the Lunch Money Print 2019 print exchange. 10 prints are shared with other artists and the 11th for exhibition and sale. Using a laser engraver, I was able to reproduce a drawing of mine, that had been digitally scanned and altered. The title, Masc. is representative of the place masculinity has in todays culture, and specifically gay culture.

Gnomes! Gnomes! Gnomes! Over the past few weeks I have been moving into my new house which means my studio has been in less than working condition... needle felting is both easily transportable but also very stress relieving! Plus they are so cute! If you would like a one of a kind little gnome pal, you can pick one up at The Ethel Curry Gallery or Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre, Haliburton or you can DM or email me. Custom orders available.

Over the past few weeks I have taken up weaving with a homemade cardboard loom. This has been my first experience weaving and Im already in love! There are just so many possibilities! - I started this project for the wearable art fashion show @fashionfallies in Haliburton, On. The goal is to make enough swatches to create a large, multicoloured, cozy cardigan. I know that as soon as Im done this project I will be delving deeper into all of the possibilities my little cardboard loom has to offer!

My first exhibition in a while was this past January/February at the Agnes Jamieson Art Gallery in the Minden Cultural Centre. Before this show, I was stuck and had not made time for myself or my art practice. Once I was asked by @schuttart & @clearmindcasting to participate with them in Initial, my gears started moving again and I was able to produce a new body of work using some of my past pieces in a new and different way. Since then I have been wildly creating in various mediums and experiments with different processes. Some prints from this exhibition are still available on my website.

This week I had the pleasure of taking an Iron Sculpture class with Rene Petitjean at @fleminghsad and I had a blast! I got to create some Celtic wall hangings and I learned a lot. This was my first time working in this medium and it will definitely not be the last!
