These were my icons for Indirect experience of nature Beyond the obviousand directelements of biophilic design, there are also opportunities to provide indirect experiences of nature. This is where some very exciting strategies come into play, such as natural materials like wood and earth, or even images of nature (hint hint our artboxes :). ... Indirect experiences provide excellent solutions to spaces where plants are not desired or views of nature and access to a window aren’t feasible. They need to have these traits: Complexity façade material Material Connection fabrics, wallpaper, furniture details, artwork Biomorphic natural patinas of materials like leather, stone, copper #biophilicdesign #naturedesign #wellnessdesign

14 Patterns of Biophilic Design by Terrapin Bright Green published in 2014. 14 patterns of BD articulates the relationship between nature, human biology and the design of the built environment so that we may experience the human benefits of biophilia in our design applications. This document discusses these patterns in a general sense for the purpose of addressing universal issues of human health and well-being (stress, visual acuity, hormonal balance, creativity) within the ...built environment, rather than program based or sector specific types (such as healthcare, education or museums. There is a great table with all the research (litte dated but foundational good research) regarding the effects of biophilic design. #wellnessdesign #biophilicdesign #naturedesign
