Her / Self III - Inclusion CALL FOR SUBMISSION (Image: Teresa by Carol Wylie) WAM’s third portrait exhibition will be like the first we produced, a virtual one. We encourage women from all parts of Canada to participate using the medium/media of their choice. This exhibit will be curated by Danielle LaBrie, WAM’s Research and Collections Officer.... Artists are often a lens on societal changes and their imagery can define pivotal moments in history. Today we hear a lot about systemic racism and how many groups are not represented in history, in art institutions, and in many public and private organizations. Her / Self III focuses on inclusion. Inclusion can be viewed from many different angles, from the self who has not been included as an artist to someone who you might know who has largely been excluded from history due to her race or cultural and religious backgrounds. This topic can begin a journey into a meaningful dialog on inclusion, and how we can open spaces for others to participate more fully and equitably. Email the following to [email protected]. 1) 1 3 jpeg images of artworks with title, media, size and date 2) Each artwork must have an accompanying descriptive text (max 250 words) CV and Bio Submission deadline: November 28, 2020 Exhibition dates: December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021 YouTube launch: Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 7 PM #canartca #womenartists #womensupportingwomen
