Probably the #1 thing that clients are surprised by is when I tell them that they do NOT have any obligation to answer the door when police come knocking. Watch this video to learn about your rights inside your own home when it comes to police at your door.

The same is happening in Ontario. Despite being an essential service, courts have ground to a halt. If we accept that "justice delayed is justice denied", then this is very concerning.

In a free and democratic society a functioning court system, access to justice, and due process are essential to its continued existence. My office will remain open as long as the government allows me to, while taking prudent precautions such as extra cleaning and maintaining physical distance. I am ready to attend court at any time on behalf of clients to ensure they have the best representation possible during this current crisis and always.

Bill C-51 is one of the most disturbing pieces of legislation I have ever seen in my years of working as a lawyer. Essentially, if you are accused of "sexual assault", it's not just guilty until proven innocent, it's guilty, period, under these laws. The legislation will require that defence counsel "tip off a liar that records exist exposing their lie and then gives them a chance to come up with an explanation."
