Quarantine Footwork Drill I call this footwork maneuver the kickback , and it can be very effective for a quick change of direction & to create a quick angle on an opponent; thus, making him/her have to adjust to where you went and then BOOM catch them off guard or walking into something. Sorry for my rustiness; I’ve been spending lots of time coaching and not so much time on my own techniques ... If you don’t have pylons at home, you can literally use anything at all from water bottles to can goods to anything. Give it a try !!! @boxingontario @boxingcanada @bushidoboxingldn @ckboxing_coachkyle #boxing #footwork #boxingdrills

Find out why you hear a lot of the Old Time trainers telling boxers to finish with the hook!! Obviously a lot of variables in the sport of boxing and nothing will always be the same but some good stuff here explaining the benefit of finishing either with the hook , the jab, or rolling out after finishing a combo with a cross.

Here's a heads up for those boxers that are worried about their, "gym being closed". Take a guess how long Joe Frazier would have skipped training, if he got that news. Forget about it. He would have rolled his eyes, and grabbed a quick 7 miles on the road. While wearing jeans, construction boots, bag gloves, and a zip up hoodie. I personally know of one team, that does not even have a gym. They train in an alley. In the winter, they wear their coats, and wait until the stree...t lights go on, until they can spar. They don't cry about it either. But they do have several nationally ranked boxers. If the road isn't closed, the gym is open. If you can do push ups, pull ups, sit ups, and sprints, the gym is open. Tough times don't last. Tough boxers do. In and out of the ring.

COVID-19 UPDATE: To our members and community, The COVID-19 situation has continued to worsen with increasing growth in cases over the last few days. Canada's Chief Public Health Officer has now raised the risk from being "low" to "serious" as it appears community transmission is starting. We have, as a nation, now been asked to do all that is required, and even our borders have been closed.... Due to this risk, and in-line with the actions of other leaders and clubs in the boxing/fitness/martial arts community, we have made the extremely difficult choice to close our doors, effective immediately, for the rest of March. We hope to re-open for April, depending on the situation at that time. The health and safety of our members and community are of the highest priority. Those of us who are young and fit must remember that the risk of spread is not just for our own immediate health, but for the health of our loved ones and community members who may be in that vulnerable category, along with everyone in general who could be potentially affected by a cascading failure of critical care access, as is now seen in other countries like Italy. Our first few months have been a wonderful journey for the team here at Bushido Boxing, and we appreciate all of the love and support you have shown us at the beginning, and now through these difficult times. All current memberships will paused for the duration of closure, and resumed upon reopen. Please reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Sincerely, The Bushido Boxing Team

To our members and community at large, We want to ensure you that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it continues to develop here in Canada and abroad. At this time, we will continue to follow the guidance of our local health unit, local government, and the Public Health Agency of Canada at large. The situation continues to change and develop rapidly and we are taking things day-by-day. ... As of today at this time, the gym will not be closing unless mandated by the agencies listed above. We are however making some temporary measures to help decrease risk. They are as follows: - We will no longer be offering club gloves to borrow. We do have a few pairs available for purchase for those who might not have any - Only 1 person may use a bag/mat at a time - no holding bags for others - We will no longer be offering public sparring on Sundays - We have the luxury of space and will be utilizing it in full to ensure members have ample room during all activities Additionally, while hygiene and cleaning have always been of the highest priority, we are taking additional steps to ensure all contacted surfaces and equipment are cleaned to the best of our ability. We have added additional sanitization stations and switched to a higher-grade cleaning solution. We ask that you help us with these standards by cleaning and sanitizing the bags you us after each workout. Lastly, a few reminders: 1. If sick, please stay home 2. If you have a fever, cough, or breathing disturbance stay home 3. Be aware to maintain 3 feet distance from other athletes 4. Avoid shaking hands, and try not to touch the face, eyes, or nose 5. Cover mouth if coughing with tissue, or elbow area 6. Wash hands with warm soapy water for 20 seconds and use sanitizer frequently 7. Follow good personal hygiene after every boxing practice or competition, including showering with soap and water and washing uniforms after use Thank you to all of our members for your continued support as we work through this situation.
