I totally admit to being a lettuce snob! I would rather shovel the snow off a cold frame than eat grocery store lettuce. Red and blush lettuce (kale is for chickens), parsley, Amsterdam leaf celery (which will perk up with warm weather this week and then get covered), broccoli and mustard greens and a few weeds.
Warm garden memories (June 22) from the Toronto Botanical Garden on a snowy evening. My first year as Director of Horticulture was one of inspiration. Toronto Botanical Garden
Covid update: New covid directives are to be implemented starting tomorrow to limit all interactions with others only for absolute necessities therefore we can not have any groups gathering to volunteer in gardens/or any club activities as of tomorrow. https://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/COVID-19 EFFECTIVE October 3, 2020... The Ontario government is pausing social circles and advising that all Ontarians allow close contact only with people living in their own household and maintain two metres (6 feet) physical distancing from everyone else. Individuals who live alone may consider having close contact with another household.

I woke up to snow today, but my garden journal 4 years ago was very different... https://fb.watch/1PxlC3UxZV/
It’s live! Our online shop is open, and accepting orders. This year, in an attempt to simplify our lives while still making things as convenient as possible for... our wonderful customers, we are offering both contactless porch pick up (seven days a week during daylight hours), as well as delivery, (with delivery charge). We have two sizes available right now, with lots of style options. The shop is at https://rural-roots-nursery-and-market-garden.square.site. Thank you! Just in case, here it is again. My previous post (now deleted) didn't seem to want to link. I've been troubleshooting, and just so you know how seriously I've been taking this issue, my COFFEE went COLD while I was attempting to be an IT specialist. I can't remember the last time that has happened. https://rural-roots-nursery-and-market-garden.square.site/

Colour and texture in Yvonne Fletcher’s garden.
Cancelled for the second year. Last year Blooms was all set and ready to go when it was cancelled.
Some of these are seen here all year and some of them come here for the summer or winter only.
Happy hallowe’en.
This afternoon, at the Harold Culham parkette, was the dedication of a park bench for our member Lois Kowal. Lois was a community minded person and loved the town of Wasaga Beach. Members of the Wasaga Beach Garden Club were among her friends present for the dedication. Other groups that were in attendance were Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank, Wasaga Beach - Taoist Tai Chi, Friends of Nancy Island, the Wasaga Beach chapter of the Ganaraska Hiking Club and Wasaga Beach Prov...incial Park for whom Lois was a piping plover volunteer. The Lois Kowal Trail Loop in Wasaga Beach was named in recognition of her contributions to the community. Hiking with Lois was a real treat because along the trail Lois could name most of the wild flowers and plants we encountered. A particularly beautiful hike was along McIntyre Creek during the blooming of the trilliums, The floor of the woods was a carpet of white blooms. The garden club and the groups of which she was a member will miss Lois. See more
Morning giggle!
This sounds lovely.
I keep saying this is the last zucchini and then this very prolific plant makes one more... fall raspberry, popping corn, baby greens, collard green and assorted kale, broccoli and bok Choi, not counting the edible weeds and herbs still growing well. And beans for next year’s seeds. I hope everyone is enjoying their gardens as much as I do! Lila
