On November 18th, I had Spinal Surgery: Disc Lamination and Fusion of L3, 4 and 5. Since then, I have been Challenged EVERY DAY to NOT RUSH, my rehab, I walked 259 steps the day after the surgery and steadily increased that to just over 44,000 steps 3 weeks later. I can feel my feet, ankles and calves when walking, but not when lying down - hence I wake up a few times in the night, or when sitting or standing for too long - entirely due to the Stenosis I have had for over two... years. Why do I tell you this, cause ever since I had my first football/soccer ball at the age of 3, I have exercised and competed and had NO Patience when having to wait and heal, so that I can play again when injured. This situation is different AND So is COVID! I have No Clue at this time, as to weather or not I will have to cancel the Races, all I do know, is that I am planning as if they are Going to Happen. You no doubt have been Training to run in them as well. However, if you are not an Elite Athlete or do not have a great deal of experience running long distances, I would Strongly Advice You NOT to OVER Train in the next few months prior to Sunday, April 25. Don’t try to rush to Peak Fitness if there is not sufficient time. Cause, we all know the potential outcomes of doing that. RIGHT!? Presently, if I have to cancel, I will do that at the end of March, unless told to do so earlier by the Region. Happy New Year!! Tony

Good Morning Everyone, Since this is new territory for all of us, we need to adjust our statement with a couple things. What we did not take into account when we gave the options was that we do not receive the full amount that you paid because part of the registration fee goes to the registration company. Therefore, we can only refund the amount for the race - not the fees. We are working on contacting the registration company to see if they too will refund what you paid th...em. Please take this into account when making your decisions with the options given. Clearly, those who want to receive a Tax Receipt, can only receive the amount, we at our Branch of St. John received, or we would be in trouble with the CRA. We apologize for the miscommunication. St John Ambulance statement regarding cancellation of the Waterloo Marathon and Ed Whitlock Half Marathon It is with regret that we are announcing the cancellation of the Waterloo Marathon and Ed Whitlock Half Marathon. We have pledged from the start to be responsible with our decision process. We did everything possible to create a safe environment for our participants and volunteers in order to continue the event on April 26th. But as the situation continues to rapidly chan...ge - the right thing to do is to postpone it until next year. Runners will be offered one of three Options: 1. Refund (does not include fees), 2. Free Entry into next year’s race or, 3. A Taxable Receipt for their Entry fee. As you can imagine, this was NOT an easy decision to make for a number of reasons but absolutely necessary for a number of others.
