Well it seems as if we have made it through the craziness of 2020, and tonight we welcome the beginning of what we all hope will be a great 2021! Tom and I will be spending this New Years Eve here on the farm celebrating with our son Jess, daughter in law Hayley and their 8 year old twins Lily and Irelynn! This is the blessing of sharing the same farm in that we can spend time with some of our family! We only wish we could also have our daughter Bre here with Ellah, Anica, V...aughan and Cassius and yes Marc too, as well as Mom Barb and Dad Frank but unfortunately with the Provincial lockdown this New Years Eve just doesn’t allow it. For everyone doing their part to end this pandemic, thank you so much!! Tom and I wish each and everyone of our family, friends and guests a very Happy New Year for 2021! Tom and I want to take the time to thank everyone that has supported us through this crazy season! This has been a very difficult and different year for all of us but we will make it through if we all do our part and 2021 will hopefully make up for all of the challenges and changes we have had to deal with! Moose hunt 2020! We came back to camp to see some very excited hunting partners! Brandon Patry from Party Sound on his first Moose hunt and first archery hunt was successful in taking a fabulous 38 bull with the help of his buddy Lawrence! Lawrence did the calling and brought in multiple bulls to the area and Brandon got his shot! Needless to say they were more than a little excited and spent a bit of time celebrating once the moose was back to camp! Congratulations to Brandon and we can’t wait to enjoy a taste of that meat! Tom cooked up the blackstrap for alm of us two days later and we are all in for some tasty treats!

Double header here at Kaby Lodge! Tristan Snip family friend of The Elmy’s smoked a beautiful bear tonight!! Three piece chevron will make a fabulous mount! Congratulations Tristan!!

Youngest successful bear hunter at Kaby Lodge! 15 year old Ashlyn Elmy successfully harvested her first bear on her second day of hunting!! Beautiful 2 1/2 year old boar with a nice white chevron on his chest!! Never went 20 yards from the bait site!! Congratulations Ashlyn, so very proud to be part of your best hunting experience!

Everyday in our lives, we have the joy and pleasure of meeting some people that make a difference in your life. It is with a heavy heart that we tell you about one of these special people who sadly passed away on August 15, 2020. Mr Don Dewey from Alma Michigan is and was one of these people. Don's quiet yet strong minded personality shone brightly whenever he spoke of his beloved wife,family and grandchildren. He made many trips to share his family with us and in return ...he became one of our Kaby Family members. Special moments like when his boys caught the big ones here at the lodge and he promised to have the fish mounted! Sharing stories around the campfire, in our dining room during quiet moments and simply chatting with Don on the phone was always something that we looked forward to. He shone brightly wherever he went and made a difference just by being himself. We know that he has passed his love of fishing and hunting along to the boys and that they will be able to hold tight to the wonderful memories they made with him and eventually share these stories with their own children one day. It will bring smiles, tears and great joy and peace just like it will for us here at Kaby. We will share our memories and know that he will be smiling down on us all. Don you will be missed. Beautiful start to our day here at Kaby! Fall sunrises are beginning!!

As Tom and I sit having our morning coffee today and watching this beautiful sunrise and the peace here at Kaby Lodge, we are reminded of how blessed we are. We are surrounded by Mother Natures beauty everyday and are so lucky to be able to share this with others, even though this year has been a challenge. We are all hearing about all the negatives during this pandemic but there really are so many positive things coming out of this as well. We have been contacted by so many ...great guests simply checking up on us to see how we are holding up and f they can do anything to help us through. Guests have offered to pay their 2021 trips in full, give us larger deposits, book 2 years in advance with deposits and the list goes on. We truly are a family here at Kaby and the love and support given to us has been something to behold! From worry over our staff, to how we will manage over winter it once again proves we have the best guests in the world that choose to share themselves here with us! We will continue to pay all your kindnesses forward as we have always done. Tom and I cannot thank you enough for the love you send our way! With August approaching and the border remaining closed we are sending out to all of our Ontario friends and other hunters to consider a trip to Kaby Lodge for a fabulous remote fall bear hunt. We are located in Northern Ontario and offer some of the best bear hunting to be found in the province along with outstanding fishing for pickerel, northern pike in the pristine northern Ontario wilderness. We are a fly-in resort located 60 KM. north east of the town of White River in... the Algoma district. With a bear management area of 61,000 acres in this remote area we have some of the finest bear hunting to be found in Ontario. We are offering 5 or 7 day trips which would include your flight into the lodge and return to White River, all meals, accommodations along with our fully prepared bear bait sites equipped and ready to go. We offer hunts for archery as well as shotguns or muzzle loaders. All stands are set up with the archery hunter in mind with average shot distances of 20 to 25 yards. What a great few days hosting Bill Rivers and Wesley McDonald from Northern Ontario Fisherman. Great fishing, great food in an environment every Ontarian should experience. It has been a fabulous privilege to host these gentlemen of the north and to share what Michel and I along with our fabulous staff have come to love, "Where the fishing catches you!".

As of yesterday, July 14th, Canada and the U.S. have decided to extend the border closure until after August 21st. While understanding our governments' decisions in this action it is disappointing for us here at Kaby Lodge since it means having to cancel another month's business and they loss of the ability to see all of our dear friends and customers from south of the border. We will be contacting all of our people from the U.S. who have reservations in place for this period... to try and either move them later in the season or make reservations into 2021 with their deposits and payments being carried forward to then. We appreciate all of the support and concerns from all of our guests who have been reaching out to us to offer their support and kind good wishes.
