There's nothing quite like a personalized letter written from a patient. Baxter was here for his Dental procedure today, and of course with these strange times he wanted to ensure proper communication since his parents weren't able to come into the building. His writing skills are impeccable, and it appears that he's also a talented baker. Are there other cats out there with specials talents too?!

How have your pets been holding up during the pandemic? Have they been getting enough attention and stimulation, too much attention, enough walks, or less activity? In a study noted in the article 'Effects of the COVID-19 Lockdown on the HumanAnimal Bond', dogs were slightly more likely than cats to have worsening behaviour problems (as recorded for 8 of 10 behaviors included in the study). ... Dental procedures are routine for cats & dogs. At Watzin Veterinary Clinic our team performs Dental procedures Monday-Friday. Do you know why Dental care for pets is so important? Below are 5 reasons outlined by Dr. JoAnna Pendergrass, DVM: 1) Preventing tooth loss. When the structures supporting a dog’s teeth become damaged or infected, the teeth loosen and fall out. Good dog dental care will ensure that those teeth-supporting structures stay healthy and keep the teeth in p...lace. 2) Preventing bad breath (halitosis). If a whiff of your dog's breath makes your nose hairs curl, it's time for some good dental care. When your dog has a healthy mouth and healthy dog teeth, bad breath won't be a problem. 3) Preventing oral pain. Dental disease, especially when it's severe, can be quite painful for dogs. Keeping your dog's teeth and gums healthy will help prevent oral pain. 4) Preventing organ damage. Bacteria in the plaque can enter the bloodstream and spread to the heart, kidneys and liver. This spread of bacteria, called bacteremia, can damage organs and make dogs quite sick. Good oral health will help prevent bacteremia and subsequent organ damage. 5) Preventing worsening dental disease. Because so many dogs have dental disease by the time they're 3 years old, it can be difficult to prevent it from developing in the first place. However, good dog dental care can prevent dental disease from becoming severe and causing problems throughout the body. Click to read the full article here: https://bit.ly/3l6tcTP

After having a Dentistry with Gingival Hyperplasia Debulking and several masses removed, including a mast cell tumor, this brave boy ended up needing an incision repair, a splint, an ultrasound, multiple bandage changes and many, many rechecks with the Doctor. September is Animal Pain Awareness Month. Osteoarthritis (OA) pain can be a serious health problem for your cat. Cats hide almost everything, especially pain. You know your cat’s playful ways and what he/she loves better than anyone. Changes in these behaviours could be signs of osteoarthritis pain. Your veterinarian relies on you to report changes in your cat’s behaviour for more accurate diagnoses. If it is found that your cat is showing signs of OA-related pain, helping yo...ur cat begins by talking to your vet. OA pain can affect cats of any age, and it has been seen in more than 60% of cats that are 6 years or older. If left untreated, the pain can become worse over time. Just as in humans, chronic pain negatively impacts your cat’s quality of life, not just physically, but also emotionally. The good news is that by identifying your cat’s condition, you and your veterinarian can develop a treatment plan for your cat. A recent peer-reviewed published study demonstrated the initial validity and reliability of a quality of life assessment for chronic diseases, such as osteoarthritis, in cats.
