THANK YOU! I am so very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to lead this wonderful community for another term as your Mayor. This would not be possible without the encouragement and support of the residents of Greater Fort Erie. I am very proud of #TeamRedekop, my wife Cathy, my daughters Lindsay and Kylie, and all the hard-working individuals who took substantial time from their own lives to assist in our campaign to build on the successes of the past 4 years. I... also want to congratulate all the candidates and their supporters for participating in our political process, for it is truly the essence of our democracy. We have an opportunity to continue to build on our success and do something unique in our town, something that will set us apart from the crowd and that we can all be proud of. But to achieve that, we need to keep listening to each other and keep working together. Together, we will make Greater Fort Erie a better place for all. We have our direction and we know our objectives. I look forward to working with all the residents of Fort Erie, the newly elected Council and Town Staff as we meet the challenges ahead. FOCUSED ON OUR FUTURE As the campaign winds down and election day approaches I find myself reflecting on the past 4 years. I’m so very proud of how the Council, Town Staff and the Residents have worked together to build our community and ensure its success.... We have accomplished so much, and I can’t help but look forward with a sense of optimism. Look at all the progress we have made and think about how much more we can accomplish together! Almost done! After 5 weeks, we are finishing our canvassing across the entire Town! It would not be possible without all of the help of so many dedicated, committed and energetic volunteers - family and friends. I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for working so hard along-side me to help #teamredekop to connect with so many residents. I am also very grateful to the residents of Greater Fort Erie for opening your doors to us, and sharing your thoughts about our wonderful Town.

Some residents have been contacting me asking for clarification about who declined slot machines at the Fort Erie Race Track. The confusion comes from the front-page story on Thursday’s Fort Erie Post where the headline suggested that the Town Fort Erie declined the slots. To set the record straight. The Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium (FELRC) and its Board of Directors are solely responsible for choosing cash over slots. The FELRC met in secret with the OLG and gav...e no notice of any meeting to me, the Town Council or the sole representative from the Town on the FELRC Board, Tom Kuchyt. As I stated in the media release from the Town on October 13, 2018, I do not approve of this back room deal or the way the FELRC has conducted itself. I want to make it clear that I support the return of slots to the Fort Erie Race Track and we are working diligently to make that happen. - Wayne Redekop, Mayor of Fort Erie
