You may be wearing a moisturizer or foundation with SPF, but is it providing enough protection? According to dermatologists it’s likely NOT. This is because people tend to apply less SPF moisturizers to important and sensitive areas on the face because moisturizers tend to be more watery and less thick compared to sunscreens, leading people to use less product. So what should you do now with your skincare and makeup routine? It’s recommended that when in doubt, do...uble up on products! Apply a high SPF sunscreen as your base layer and then makeup with SPF on top; or vice versa with SPF moisturizers. Another great option is to use mineral makeup with SPF for touch-ups. Mineral powders are super handy to apply over your makeup to get rid of any shine as well as add sun protection. Do you rely on your moisturizers and makeup for sun protection? You’re probably wondering, why would I wear sunscreen in the wintertime when it’s freezing out? Well it turns out that the ozone layer is thinner during the winter months. Usually the ozone layer is the part of the atmosphere that absorbs the UV radiation. And so, it provides less protection during the winter, and allows more UV rays to reach the Earth and penetrate your skin. Sun protection is just as important in the winter months!...
