Recently we did an exterior renovation for one of our local architects who wanted a unique exterior aesthetic; smooth @james_hardie panel with a metal break system, but without the normal trim pieces that help lock the panels in place. After a lot of head scratching, we came up with an elegant solution that satisfied everyone's vision. As promised, the before and after photos on the heritage home restoration we did recently. Off with the old cedar shakes and 100 years of interesting exterior additions, and on with double 4" vinyl siding and Grayne vinyl cedar shake in the gable end both from @gentekcanada. In the final photo you'll notice some of the less-desirable discoveries from this renovation that were, of course, fixed! Sometimes that tired exterior is hiding some very vicious gremlins

Occasionally we discover very unusual things when we remove old siding. On this particular renovation, we uncovered building wrap tar paper and newspapers from 1921 hiding under the very brittle cedar shakes! Stay tuned for before and after photos on this small heritage restoration!
