Some significant news for Edmonton businesses located in the Winterburn Industrial Area! This is quoted from Councillor Andrew Knack's Facebook page: "There was some big news yesterday for those west of the Henday. As part of the provincial Municipal Stimulus Funding, there are some opportunities to fund some longstanding concerns. The biggest impact will be in the Winterburn Industrial Area. You may have previously seen my video discussion earlier this year with Brad Abel w...ho is the President of the Winterburn Business Association and/or read through my budget blog in December 2018 where I identified the need to start providing services for this unserviced industrial areas. These areas were previously annexed in 1982 and since that point, they have been dealing with oil & gravel roads. This impacts the type of traffic that can use those roads and the traffic that does use those roads, causes a lot of damage which results in the City regularly trying to maintain those roads while spending hundreds of thousands per year. Under this program, the City will be able to construct proper roads in that area which should provide businesses with the opportunity to expand. That will of course benefit us as a city as it will generate new tax revenue and create new jobs."
