Welcome Wings Aviary 18.11.2020

New bird shopping cart prop for trick-training. $8 plus shipping (or willing to ship with any order from www.theflockshop.ca). Wheels actually roll, and front panel lifts up the same way a real shopping cart works. Super cute! Train your bird to stand on the handle bar, push it with his beak, or put small objects in it. Should be used as a training prop while the bird is being fully supervised and NOT a toy left in the cage. ... Any interest?

Thank you Pam Golding for this fantastic recipe (click for full text below the images). I highly recommend Pam's birdie cookbook, if you're looking to have some fun in the kitchen with your flock! Lots of nutritious and easy-to-make recipes that will help introduce birds to new foods, and give birds with a developed palette some variety in their dishes. The book is only $20 CAD, including postage. Well worth it! PM Pam Golding to purchase.

Our babies at Welcome Wings are abundance weaned, meaning they comtinue hand-feeding at regular intervals through each day while alsp being offered a variety of healthy food options to try at their convenience. They are never forced away from hand-feeding, but are instead allowed to turn it down of their own accord as they learn, through experimentation, to eat on their own. Today our baby conures are receiving five dishes of food: Dish 1: Roudybush pellets... Dish 2: Scrambled Egg Dish 3: Peas, Beans, Carrots and Corn Dish 4: Cooked Noodles, Cooked Quinoa Dish 5: Beets, Swiss Chard, Cooked Lentils, Bell Pepper, Carrot, Sweet Potato You may notice that seed is not included in the offerings at this point. Seed is the easiest food to wean babies onto -- it tastes yummy and is very easy for them to eat. As a result, once a baby tries seed for the first time they will often fill up on it, ignoring everything else. Future interactions with food are likely to go the same way -- they see the seed and eat it, excluding other offerings. I would rather they first try healthier options and get really good at eating those, then try seed just before heading to their new homes.
