Last Thursday, Jagmeet announced more on the New Democrat plan to make the wealthiest pay their fair share by proposing a temporary COVID-19 Excess Profit Tax. Throughout this crisis, most Canadians and small businesses owners have struggled to get by. From staying employed and keeping a roof over their heads to keeping the lights on in their businesses, COVID-19 has been devastating for people and our economy.... As most people across Canada have been struggling, the very wealthiest among us got richer and richer, some wealthy corporations have made, and continue to make, record profits. The pandemic is not over. Instead of cutting services and help for people, Trudeau needs to make the wealthiest and those who excessively profit from the pandemic pay their fair share, so we can better deliver help to the people who really need it.
