It gave me pleasure to stand beside Emily Carr’s gravesite yesterday. This was on my list of things I wanted to do since living in the neighbourhood this remarkable lady once occupied. Her headstone is delicately decorated by admirers who honour her love of nature. Her quote you see on the engraved stone reads: Dear Mother Earth. I think I have always specially belonged to you. I have loved from babyhood to roll upon you, to lie with my face pressed right down on to you in my sorrows. I love the look of you and the smell of you and feel of you. When I die I should like to be in you uncoffined, unshrouded, the petals of flowers against my flesh and you covering me up.

So lovely to be in the quiet days as we approach the ‘still point of the turning year’. A quieter energy before the nourishments of feasts and family. Nature helping us to go deeper and revitalize. All while we look forward to the longer ‘lazy hazy crazy days of summer’.
Wishing you sunny skies and loving faces smiling back at you.
Cheers to our fun and fabulous Island Celebrant team. Celebrate good times!
