Thank you Castanet. Were so proud of everyone who played a part in helping our community!
Fun Fact Friday: Lora Wentworth once played with Paul Janz
The team of Wentworth Music, Interior Savings and K96.3 Kelownas Classic Rock are proud to share that they have raised an astonishing quarter of a million dollars to help children and their families through the Kelowna General Hospital. But heres the kicker, it was all done through Rock concerts put on by the students of Wentworth Music. From the MCs, backstage help, students, teachers, notable veteran Artists like Darby Mills, Prism, Nancy Nash and Andrew Johns and conce...rt sponsors, everyone has taken their time to make a difference for youth who need a helping hand. To know that weve made an impact like this through Music is the most amazing feeling in the world! exclaims Noel Wentworth, Vice President of Education at Wentworth Music. Im so grateful for the support everyone has shown us over the years. Since beginning their concert fundraising efforts in 2008, all proceeds have gone towards notable projects such as the creation of the Foundry to help youth with Mental health as well as the construction of Joe Annas House, a home away from home for Families with youth undergoing treatment at the Kelowna General Hospital. But the majority of the money raised has gone towards helping children and their families at the Kelowna General Hospitals Paediatric ward. To see the sacrifice and support parents give their children in a time of need is life changing. explains Wentworth. Weve all done our best to find ways to help. Money raised from their most recent production went towards providing several new Sleeper Chairs to be put in patients rooms. The chairs, similar to a Lazy Boy recliner, provide a welcome solution for parents to be at their childs side through the night instead of potentially having to sleep on a stretcher. Although the pandemic may prevent a full scale, in person concert from happening in the near future, the Wentworth team is working on some innovative ideas to keep their tradition alive. Streaming live or prerecorded footage of our students performing in groups may be the solution moving forward. explains Wentworth. Like everything, you just have to find ways to remove the obstacles.
Well that's a nice way to start the day Voted Top 3 Music schools in Kelowna for the past 4 years. Wentworth Music is listed as #1

Doing our part Dear parents and students of the Wentworth Music Education Centre. Due to the social distancing measures in effect to keep everyone safe from the spread of COVID-19, Wentworth Music has made the decision to temporarily suspend in-person lessons. BUT! We are excited to announce that we will be shifting lesson instruction online, with our teachers offering fun and exciting lessons through Zoom, Skype, Video or other solutions!... Please be patient as we work though the details. Your instructor will contact you shortly to line up your lessons. And not to worry, when the COVID-19 social distancing measures come to an end, your original time slot will be available for you. Its important right now to understand that although we need to go through this pivotal time, that it wont be forever, and we will get back to one-on-one lessons as soon as possible. Looking ahead, we are still planning on doing future recitals, exams, and our world class year end show. But just in case they are postponed, weve come up with some exciting and creative online options! Stay tuned! The importance of music is significant now more than ever. Lets continue with the goals, consistency, and creativity that music brings to our lives! Sincerely, Wentworth Music

Must see concert Date of Event: February 5th 2020, at 7:30pm (doors 7:00pm) Title: Eugene Chadbourne - Experimental Music Series Location: Affinity Hall - 204, 1405 St. Paul Street... Tickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/93219322503 Guitar/Banjo Virtuoso Eugene Chadbourne Brings Zany Irreverence to Kelowna World celebrated guitar wizard and master improviser Eugene Chadbourne will be appearing in the Okanagan for the very first time with a special concert performance on February 24th at the Affinity Hall in Kelowna. This concert is the thirty-seventh installment of the Skin And Bones Music Series. Now in its sixth year of production, Skin And Bones is an Okanagan Arts Award nominated concert series dedicated to the presentation of experimental music in the Okanagan. The Groucho Marx of the guitar, skronkabilly alien Eugene Chadbourne deals solely in slapstickery, sly punchlines, and exaggerated eccentricities. As if his implode-on-a-dime freakouts werent enough, hes perhaps the quickest guitarist alive to exploit the parts of the instrument beyond the fretboard and beyond sanity, pounding, tweaking, scraping, and hammering away not to mention playing a rake like the worlds meanest axe. (C.W., Spin Magazine) For 45 years Eugene Chadbourne has been cutting a swathe through the traditions of jazz, country, folk, and pop with his virtuosic and sometimes-irreverent improvisational stylings on guitar, banjo, and (on occasion) electric rake. Named one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time by Spin Magazine, Chadbourne has a vast discography that spans hundreds of releases including collaborations with John Zorn, Camper Van Beethoven, Dead Kennedys Jello Biafra, Violent Femmes, Anthony Braxton, Frank Zappa drummer Jimmy Carl Black, and many, many others. Appearing with Chadbourne will be Kelownas own sublime and subversive saxophonist Darren Williams and madcap drummer Björn van Haalen. Eugene Chadbourne performs at Affinity Hall as part of the Skin and Bones Music Series on February 24th. Doors open at 7:30 pm and the concert will begin at 8:00 pm sharp. Affinity Hall is located at 1405 St. Paul Street, second floor, Suite 204, in downtown Kelowna. Admission at the door is $20 or $15 for students. Advance tickets can be purchased online at Event Brite. This concert is made possible through the collaboration with Affinity Hall/Okanagan CoLab which aims to bring together musicians, artists, promoters, and enthusiasts by supporting the social, economic, cultural, and intellectual well being of Kelowna citizens and visitors.
