COVID-19 Update Although our office remains open by appointment only, we have resumed in person meetings with clients and ask that all visitors to our office wear a face covering/mask in accordance with the following City of Toronto bylaw (unless one of the said exemptions apply): COVID-19 Mandatory Mask or Face Covering Bylaw. The health and safety of our clients, staff and our community as a whole continues to be of the utmost importance to us and although we are meeting wi...th clients in person, we are limiting in person meetings where possible, opting instead for meetings over the phone or other electronic means. We also ask that you please send information to us via electronic means of communication rather than attending our office in person to deliver documents. For any inquiries regarding our services and new matters, we encourage you to contact us by email at [email protected] or use the Contact Us form on our website: https://www.werhunlaw.com/contact-us. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding, and although these may be challenging times, we continue to be committed to our clients and delivering the high quality service that they are used to. Stay safe and healthy.

This just in - The Ministry of the Attorney General has advised that an emergency Order In Council has been made under s. 7.1 of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act with respect to the virtual commissioning and execution of wills. This will finally allow lawyers to meet with clients remotely to sign wills. Once posted, the order can be found here: https://www.ontario.ca/search/orders-in-council
The Ontario Attorney General is considering changes to the applicable legislation temporarily allowing execution of wills to be done over video instead of in person. We hope to hear something further on this in the coming days. https://www.cbc.ca//wills-estate-mortality-covid19-1.55123
