WESBILD LIFT | On Saturday, Wesbild proudly celebrated the 8th Anniversary of our Wesbild LIFT (Learning Initiative For Tomorrow) Scholarship Program. In the last eight years, we have awarded 114 scholarships worth over $200,000 for CABE graduates to pursue post-secondary education and training. The CABE program is a School District 43 - Coquitlam program that offers an alternative educational delivery model for students looking for a different educational experience. The sch...ool uses individualized, self-paced instructional programs in the core subjects (Math, Science, Socials, English) and an expanding selection of elective opportunities to help students pursue graduation. Wesbild LIFT Recipients are pursuing careers in early childhood education, trades, justice, social work and more. The success of the program would not be possible without the amazing educators at CABE and the support of the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation who manage the financial fund on behalf of Wesbild. We are so pleased with the success of our Wesbild LIFT Recipients and being a part of their educational journey. This year also saw a huge milestone with our first Wesbild LIFT recipient to receive their Bachelors degree. It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Share Family and Community Services founder, Gertie Grosser. Wesbild has been a proud partner of SHARE since 2005. We are inspired by the values Gertie instilled in SHARE's mission, from humble beginnings in 1972 to the multi-faceted social service society it is today. Each year, SHARE presents the Gertie Grosser Award to a community member for outstanding service to the Tri-Cities. We were honoured that our Company D...irector, Mrs. Nezhat Khosrowshahi, was the recipient of that award in 2015/16. We are proud to have known Gertie, and are committed to carry on her legacy by continuing to support the important work that SHARE does for our community. ENVIRONMENT | We are proud to be a Tri-Cities Chamber Business Excellence Awards nominee this year, in the "Environmental Steward of the Year" category! Nominees in the Environmental Steward of the Year category are businesses or individuals who demonstrate an in-depth understanding of environmental sustainability. They help build environmental awareness and promote these practices within the local environmental landscape, ultimately, dedicated to making the Tri-Cities a better place to live, work and play.

Wesbild made a contribution of $5 Million towards the future construction of a lit artificial turf field at the future Secondary/Middle School site on Burke Mountain. The future middle/secondary school and park site is viewed as a top priority by Wesbild, the City of Coquitlam, and School District No. 43, given the continuing growth in the Burke Mountain area.
