While a sombre conclusion, all those involved are relieved to bring closure to the family, said RCMP in a press release.
This is our community, said Dawn McNeill as tears welled up in her eyes as she answered why she volunteered to open the Northport Community Centre when two teen boys went missing after their boat capsized near Fox Island. Our family fishes... This is close to the heart.
The search is being concentrated around the waters off Northport Harbour and the Cacsumpec area.
Ryan MacKinnon, a 15-year-old from O’Leary, with family ties to eastern PEI, was seriously injured in an accident on August 6. He is currently in the IWK in Halifax, having undergone multiple surgeries and still on a long road to recovery.
The O’Leary Fire Department received the call approximately 7:30 pm on Sept 14.
The West Prince Graphic has an upcoming section for soccer and baseball/softball team photos. Soccer is scheduled for Sept. 23 and baseball/softball is scheduled for Sept. 30. So far we have only received team photos for baseball/softball, but nothing for soccer. We are hoping there are parents out there who snapped a team photo that can be sent to us. Also, photos taken at games or individual players will be considered this year. Photos can be forward to [email protected]. Please include name of player(s) and team name. Any help would be appreciated.
No one was injured during the incident.

The show of support for Ryan MacKinnon and his family has been non-stop since the O’Leary youth was involved in an accident on Aug. 6. Mr MacKinnon was airlifted to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax shortly after the event, where he remains in critical, but stable condition.

West Prince Graphic is looking to speak to Holland College students going into their first or second year starting in the fall. The focus of the piece is on what they think of the change from in class learning to online learning. The campus can be any of the Holland College campuses across the Island, but the student must be from West Prince. Those interested can contact Jillian Trainor by phone at 902-231-2036 or by email at [email protected]
