As of Friday our office will be pretty closed for two weeks. What that means is we'll be mostly closed but still available by phone/text for clients only. In past years we've checked our phones a few times throughout the holidays, but this year we're going to make sure our lines are open and on throughout. We've never been this busy with clients at our centres before and don't want to miss anyone trying to contact us for the first time. We will also continue to see our cli...ents who are currently doing the Grief Recovery Method. We will be back up to our usual shenanigans on January 4th. Got this message from one of our favourites, Kim Bennett! Here's what she wrote: "Our church missions team suggested we make gingerbread houses about a mission our church supports... I wanted to show you my house and my write up: I made my Mission’s gingerbread house... but I don’t think it’ll last long enough to be displayed anywhere! The girl in the blue dress is supposed to be pregnant, can you tell? Maybe she’s a part of the covid baby boom in Whitecourt (yep, that hap...pened...) but she found support at the West Yellowhead Pregnancy Support Centre and is learning about all things baby while earning free gingerbread diapers (not shown). We were supposed to make a backstory, right?" We love you, Kim!! Well, we weren't able to find any maternity leggings but someone messaged us asking if they could buy some for our client. Isn't that just too wonderful? In a time where things feel pretty dark, there is still a lot of good out there!

One of our sweet moms-to-be is looking for some small maternity leggings, the kind with a belly panel in the front. Maternity clothes are really expensive and we don't carry much of it but if you can get a line on some please let us know! Thank you to everyone who shares our posts when we're hunting for specific items, it's crazy how effective word of mouth is...or...um...whatever you call the act of sharing a FB post. -N.

Just a small heads up if you are planning to come to either the Edson or Whitecourt office. As of today, masks are now mandatory in both of these towns. Does this totally bum you out? If so, all of our "Earn While You Learn" classes are available online and can be sent via email or text. Need to talk? We can utilize a sweet Zoom meeting with awesome face filters, I (Natalie) have seriously never looked better than through a sepia lens paired with an outer space background, ...just something about that combo! All this to say, we've been making this thing work since March and we can continue to make it work for you! Please, please do not let small things get in the way of getting the service and help you need. Okay, I think that's it! -N

We don't get a lot of Dads-to-be at our office. We have, now more than ever, a significant number of single moms. We want to acknowledge a very special Dad-to-be who is not only doing all of his homework, but he's chosen to also complete his own copies of his girlfriend's homework sheets. Because of confidentiality we can't share names but want to say that we're so proud him! We have a whole series of curriculum just for dads. If you're a dad who could use a little help with knowing how this parenting stuff works (because it's so hard sometimes) let us know, we would love to help!

This Fall, likely October, there will potentially be two courses available in Edson that we are hoping some of our clients will take advantage of: The first is a Financial Literacy class specifically for women. If you find dealing with money stressful, this will be very helpful! The second is called "Community Kitchen" where you learn to meal prep, read recipes, and cook (bonus, you even get to take home meals!) If you are one of our clients, you'll likely hear Natalie talk about these over the coming weeks in hopes that you register! Need a friend to go with? No problem, we want to go! The best part? Both classes are TOTALLY FREE!!! Let us know if you're interested!

Our AGM is coming up! If you would like to attend it will be September 21st at 7pm at our Edson Location Suite 202, 4924 1st Avenue

Our offices will be closed from August 31st-September 7th. Phones will still be checked a few times throughout the week; If you really need us you may wait a couple of days, but we will get back to you! Would anyone happen to have a doppler they would be willing to donate to a client? We have a young lady who is doing such a great job of doing her homework, her lesson plans, and taking great care of herself who would just like a little reassurance between appointments. She's hoping to save her points for baby items but we told her we'd put out an ask to our Facebook followers to see if anyone might have one that they are done with.
