Another winter tip for this cold weather. Get your antifreeze strength tested. This is a big no heat issue for your vehicle. If the air temperature drops to -39 Celsius, and the strength of your antifreeze is only good to -35. It will freeze in the heater hoses and rad hoses, as your block heater can't produce enough heat at these cold temperatures to keep every external hoses warm. Thus the antifreeze will turn to ice in those hoses and cause a no heat or over heating issue. Get your antifreeze tested. It takes about 2-3 minutes to check, and can save you hundreds of dollars in repairs.

More cold weather tips. Parking in a warm garage is wonderful. But remember to put gas line antifreeze in your vehicle. As your vehicle warms up in that nice warm garage, condensation will accumulate in the fuel tank. It's a natural thing to happen. Hot -cold-hot ,as the tank and fuel in it warms up the condensation will go into the fuel. Not huge amounts but it will accumulate over time. The fuel pump on most vehicles sit at the lowest point in the tank. Being water is ...heavier than gas, the water will separate in the tank, and can freeze once the vehicle leaves the warm garage. And unfortunately it will freeze right where the pump picks up the fuel. So to help prevent this from happening, add gas line antifreeze to your tank when you fuel up. 1 note from a very knowledgeable lady I know, if you do park in a warm garage, condensation from the hot car, when you park in the garage can create a mold problem on the walls of your garage. Keep an eye on the hidden corners for black dots forming. See more

It's here. The cold weather has arrived. Here's a couple of winter tips for you. Your battery looses cranking power in this cold weather. It can loose close to 50% at these temperature's. Make sure to unplug all your accessories. Such as phone and I pad, GPS units and dvd players. When you park your car for the night. As these will draw power from your all ready cold battery. Even with your car plugged in the battery will loose cranking power in this weather.

It's going to happen sooner than later folks. COLD COLD COLD WEATHER. A good thing to do right now while it's warm out. Check your block heater, make sure it works. Check your tire pressures, the cold weather will really play havoc with them.... Thank you from the staff and management at. West Edmonton Auto Service.

Don't let that noise you here when turning your steering wheel go very long. This passengers side idler arm was on a customers vehicle, which they were driving on our streets. Up until yesterday afternoon when they brought it into me for the noise issue. The new one on the right side of the picture is all one piece, the worn out one on the left side was making noise for a very long time. This part is very important part of the steering system and geometry of this type of steering system. Don't let those noises go to long, yours or others lives could be at risk.

Hey everyone! I know this is short notice but I just wanted to share this with you all. I found this amazing mechanic shop in Edmonton , where they give free M...echanic 2 hour courses for woman. I was looking for a new and good mechanic with good rates and that doesnt rip you off lol. . Im sure we all have had those interesting and very expensive experiences lol. I called about every mechanic place in the city until i found this gem of a place. Anyways, It ranges anywhere from learning the basics, like changing tires to learning about shocks, hydraulics, break bads, break shoes etc. Jim the mechanic teaches you all these things right on your own vehicle. There are 2 more courses left. This one coming up is, this Saturday at 10:00 am. Jim also gives you the most amazing mechanic price rates for any work done on your vehicle! I went to a mechanic around here, wont say who lol, but they wanted to charge me $300 to fix my automatic window, where Jim charged me $67 flat. Im so happy to say my window now roles up , and works amazing! This place really is a diamond in the rough!. At first I thought it was too good to be true, but im happy to say im seeing the best results from going to this mechanic shop! Ill add a link to their facebook page. Feel free to check it out and let me know if you have any questions. Its an amazing way to acquire more knowledge and feel more confident in knowing how to fix any issues you could have with your own vehicle. Cheers!

With the cold weather coming in the next day or two, and may be with us for a week or so. It's a good idea to dig out the extension cord, so you can plug in your car/truck or suv. Cold startups can be hard on an engine, and make it tough for a week battery to it's job. Get your block heater cord in your car checked, its only a few minutes to do. A good reassurance you'll get started in the up coming cold. Plug in a light or hair dryer to your extension cord to be sure it's working, some times we turn the breaker off in the basement during the summer months to our out door plug ins. Put some colored flag tape on the extension cord end closest to to car, so you don't forget to unplug it and you can find it easier in the snow.

It's been a very eventful 2 days! This will be a bit of a read so please read until the end. It's about amazing kids, survivors, hockey and fun!! Yesterday we r...eceived a call from one of our fellow racers Ron Larsson. His son is involved in a Hockey game to benefit Cancer Research and Awareness. They asked us if we as organizers would like to be there to do the honorary puck drop. What an honour to be asked to do this. As you all know this Chase The Cure event is about those fighting, those who fought and won and those we have lost along the way. NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE! We have asked that instead of us as organizers of Chase The Cure be the puck drop honoree if we could have someone we know who is currently fighting cancer take the honours. The Hockey team and club has agreed. The Honorary Puck drop will be done by Mr. Mike Redmond. Mike is one of the strongest men we know. Mike has had over 200 rounds of chemotherapy to treat his Colon Cancer. Throughout all this he was always there to support his family and continue his daily responsibilities at his business. Through this time and tough days he never missed a beat. What always strikes me as amazing about Mike is that no matter how hard the day was, what ever he was going through he always and I mean always had a welcoming smile on his face and asked how I was doing. Mike Redmond has been chosen this year to be our spokesperson for the Chase The Cure for his strength, determination and passion for life. We will share more about Mike's story in a future post. On January 18th, 2019 @ 8:15pm at the Kenilworth Arena in Edmonton there will be a hockey game "MLAC PINK GAME" between the Bantom AA teams MLAC Reliable Tube vs St. Albert Comets. These 2 teams will not only put on an amazing hockey game for us all but they will have a silent auction, Raffles and so much more. Be sure to come early so you can take in the silent auction and raffles. The MLAC Reliable Tube team will be donning pink jerseys, hockey socks and matching hockey pants to show their support for Cancer research. There will be a $5.00 donation box at the front door for entry to the arena. We invite all of our family, friends, drivers, crews and all you wonderful supporters to come to the game and help support such a wonderful cause and show your support to these 2 Bantom AA teams while they support those affected by Cancer. Good afternoon all. We will be holding a Chase The Cure meeting January 20th, 2019. At West Edmonton Auto Service, 11141-156st, ( BARGAIN AU...TO CENTER building) at 1:00pm. This meeting is to explain the August 17th, 2019 race day, It's for everyone to attend, general public to all racers and fans. We will be talking about sponsors for the race, what racers can do, how to get involved as a volunteer, and get some other ideas for that race day. Everything will be discussed except for the number of laps each class gets. That will not be on the agenda. This Race is ONLY about the CURE, NOT the number of laps you get. As that is scheduled by the track promoter for that day. You can participate if you like, or not. This year there is no pressure on any racers, on any team to raise money or silent auction items. As we proved last year, only 8 of the 50 scheduled drivers and teams stepped up and made it a huge success. More would be great that's for sure. We raised just under $13,000.00 for the Chase The Cure Race and the Canadain Cancer Society. I'm very proud of the Mcintosh Motor Sports Team, Barb Oneill, Myself, and all the volunteers that helped make it a success. It was a crowd pleasing event, with so many great people met that have or are fighting cancer. We couldn't do it with out Loretta and Ron Thiering of Edmonton International Raceway and there willingness to let us use their facility to do it at. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us here on our Facebook page. Thank You, Jim Mcintosh.

LADIES NIGHT #2, WENT GREAT. A few didn't make it, but the ones that did I think enjoyed the evening and learned how to change a tire in the dark of night. The only thing missing was the snow storm as they did it. Some brake and suspension information, a bit of body damage information as well. CLASS #3 FOR THIS GROUP HAPPENS JANUARY 9TH. ... Thank you ladies for your attention and questions. Jim McIntosh Shop Manager.
