As the principal I feel so privileged to celebrate a huge milestone of our Sunday Dhamma School. Last Sunday we had our 25th anniversary celebration and book-la...unching (revised & advanced curriculum) ceremony at the Rick Hansen Secondary School in Mississauga. Our chief guest was Venerable Dr. Mawarale Bhaddiya Thera. We had three federal/provincial Members of Parliament along with Sri Lankan Consul General who made short speeches about significance of Dhamma education in Canada. Our Viharadhipathi Kulugammana Dhammawasa Nayaka Thera together with Venerable monks gave us blessings for more success. The revised and advanced curriculum was authored by Dr. Swarna Chandrasekera. She really worked hard for many years to develop this curriculum. Our Dhamma school was started with 8 students and today we have over 400 students. Those students who came to our school in mid 90s are now parents and they are bringing their children to get Dhamma education. This is our success ! A Big thank-you to all our past and current teachers, coordinators (Badra Jayaratne, Chamila Kasturiarachchi) for their dedication and hard work. I also would like to acknowledge the Late Venerable Dr. Madawela Punnaji Mahathera, the Most Venerable Brahmanagama Muditha Nayaka Thera, the Most venerable Kulugammana Dhammawasa Nayaka Thera, Mr. Aloy Perera, Mrs. Priya Premawardena for starting this Dhamma School with 8 students.
