THE MIMICOMBO PROJECT During this Covid quarantine, I've had the opportunity to reflect on many of the people and places that have made an impact on my life. Ma...ybe it's because I'm getting up there in years or maybe I'm just feeling melancholy, but on Sunday morning I woke up feeling truly inspired to begin working on something that I've considered for a long time now. I've decided to write a book about the Mimicombo Roller Rink. Many of us have fond memories of the Combo, if you were like me, I skated almost every night there and made friends that are still a part of my life today. But I'm not the only one.... I want to hear your stories. Share with me your experiences, and what the Combo meant to you. I'd like for everyone to contribute. I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly...the funny, the romantic, the heartbreaks...whatever you feel comfortable sharing. I'm looking to write about the rink from a biographical/historical perspective molded around our experiences. I'd welcome any stories, photo's, newspaper articles, whatever is in your Mimicombo archives, please share them. I've projected at least a year to conduct interviews, collect information, photos, stories, news articles, etc....whatever I can gather to make this book a reality. Did you know the west end of Toronto had a luxurious pier that housed a roller skating rink?!

Our group and Rollergettes used to skate at the #Parkdale Community Recreation Centre (PCRC) on Sundays. Due to bureaucracy with Toronto District School Board and City of Toronto - Municipal Government we were no longer permitted and took a very long hiatus. Here is a flashback...
