Did you know the Metras Museum is the largest museum dedicated to university athletics in Canada? The John P. Metras Sports Museum was founded in 1982 to chronicle the history of Western University Athletics and Sport. The Metras Museum and Western Mustangs Hall of Fame are located in Alumni Hall on campus, but much of the history is also available online. On this edition of Meet the Mustangs, we meet Melissa Langegger of the Women’s Volleyball team. The WMAA is working on Western at the Olympics with the International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS), including creating a Wall in ICOS dedicated to Western Alumni who participated in the Olympic games, developing an interactive video presentation of WMAA stories and hosting a dedicated Lecture Series on the social impact and leadership of talented varsity athletes and coaches at the Olympic Games. The Grand Opening date is tentatively scheduled for Homecoming 2021.
