Sitting on the rooftop in Jerusalem, talking to Toby about the political situation of Israel/Palestine. Coaching the grade 8 boys basketball team and winning the final game in improbable fashion: a double bounce pass, a blocked shot, and a miraculous second shot buzzer beater. Talking to my AP ELA class about The Bros K in the church across the river from Chapman. Playing football with the grade 12 students in the field in my first year of teaching. There are so many memori...es. #humansofwestgate

Sneak peek at our Pick Up, Dine and Donate Meal Bags! Designed by Eric Peters and printed by Big Sand Volleyball Clothing. Our Fall Supper Fundraiser is set for this Thursday November 12, and we're thrilled at the interest we've received from our community. We're completely sold out of meal bags and want to say a big thank you to everyone who ordered and donated! Although we will be dining apart this year, we remain together in spirit (and perogies!) ... All proceeds from the event will go towards paying the outstanding debt from our 2017 campus redevelopment project. We're getting closer to reaching our goal, and if you'd like to learn more about how you can help please go to westgatemennonite.ca/capital-campaign/ See more

Hello Westgate friends! We (David Nelson and Natasha Bogoya Enns) are so excited to be your student council co-presidents this school year. Despite this crazy time we’re in, we are determined to nurture Westgate’s environment of community and friendship. We are incredibly hopeful that this year can be great!

The focus of this year's Spiritual Emphasis Week is Spiritual Resilience. Students spent some time every day this week writing, reflecting, in prayer and discussion. They sent postcards to some inspiring communities of conscience in Winnipeg, explored personal sources of resilience, and watched inspiring video messages from community leaders. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a meaningful week at our school!

Some highlights from Wednesday's MOVE-A-THON Student Fundraiser! Students spent the afternoon cycling, walking, doing fitness circuits, longboarding and canoeing across the city to raise money that will go towards improving our school and student life this year.

It's been a great first week back at school! There have been a lot of changes to the way we're used to learning and being with each other, but it's been wonderful to have our hallways filled with the smiling *eyes* of Westgaters once again!

The Westgate staff is back at school this week preparing for the return of students! Our goal for the school year is to maximize in-class learning while maintaining a focus on safety and reducing the risk of transmission. . We feel very fortunate that our building is spacious enough that we can plan for every student of every grade to be at school every day. ... . And while this year will present a number of challenges, we are excited for some new opportunities to re-imagine what our academics, sports & music programs, extra-curriculars, and spiritual life might look like. . Most of all, we look forward to staying connected and engaged with our students and community to make this a great year. All of our COVID-19 September 2020 Reopening Plan can be read on our website and by following the link in our profile. See more
