"Oh God"...this was the last ad for the Bijou Theatre at Kingston Rd. and Morningside Dr. It was less than 10 years old and had two separate theatres, but when plans for the Morningside Mall were made the theatre was excluded, closed and later demolished. In the site banner at the top, it's the building in the top left corner behind what was then an A&P supermarket.

STUCK AT HOME ? Who delivered to or served your house in Scarborough in the 1950s and 60s ? We're looking for people NOT connected to public utilities , department stores like Eatons' or Simpsons. or local pharmacies and small grocery stores. We're including Individuals who depended on door-to-door sales: Here's our starting list: Avon, Beauty Councillor, Bread man, Chambers Foods, Coal Man, Egg man, Encyclopedia salesmen, Fuller brush man, Ice Man, knife sharpeners, Magazine salesman, Milkman, newspaper boy/girl, Sheeny Man (rags etc), Tupperware.... Only those who could be found in Scarborough in the 1950s, 60s and even the 70s. Add to our list and comment if you wish. No personal names, just generalities.
At these Covid 19 times where we can stock up on most things to last 2-3 weeks in one careful trip the the store, we need these guys back,,,daily... just like they did in the 50's and 60's. Fresh Milk and Bread at you door everyday without making a phone call.
